To ride one is to own one.

We could give you the "text book" definition of the breed, but why be so formal? Fox Trotters were developed to take on the most rugged of trails, compete at the highest level in the show ring, and love their owner's very much.

They come in just about every shape, size and color. They are a naturally gaited horse. This means that they do not require special shoes or gimmicks to make them gait. Their gait is a diagonal one. They do not have a lot of "action" while gaiting.

A Fox Trotter wants to be your best friend. If you do not like horses that want to be with you all the time, do not buy a Fox Trotter.

If you have stopped riding due to the rough ride of a hard trotting horse, you should check out fox trotters. Their gait is very comfortable and non-jarring. Even beginning riders can enjoy a trail ride when they are not bounced all over the saddle
