ABOUT ME and WHATS IMPORTANT TO ME
So this is my ABOUT ME page, nothin' formal 'bout this here page eh *haha*..If you don't know me already, HI *Smile* My name is Mariel ..I am from the Okanagan Valley and a mother of 3.
I have a new passion... it is darts.. ok ok so it isn't quite like writing poetry or acting but it's damn fun and I'm not half bad at it. I played in quite a few tournaments last year. I've taken a break from it tho but will be putting the dart board back up I think once I get around to it..lol
I enjoy writing poetry (**passion),acting (**passion) riding horses, fishing with the kids,
sea-dooing, canoeing, playing volleyball, softball, basketball (when I get into it..lol) exploring the hillside, moonlit walks,candle light dinners, a sweet , sensitive, compassionate, non confrontational but strong, understanding, loving, reliable, independant man. Oh and someone who can remember the dates that are important to me and call me 'pet' names and let me be 'gurney' or 'cream crackered' when I want to be..now.. where to find him..lmao *GRIN* (you know why I'm grinning right?? lol)
I have another new passion. It's travelling. I want to travel everywhere by the time I'm ... well you don't need to know..lol soon tho.. I love waking up to the sound of the ocean or the hum of the street below. i want to go to Cuba or Mexico next year and then who knows. Paris, Australia, and New Zealand are on my wish list but I think I'll be saving for a while for those ones. I wish I had a group of people who would travel with me. Fun people..lol.. There is a new place on my wish list.. ya.. you know where that is.. the guys wear skirts there and no one thinks any differently of them ;)
I went 'deep sea' fishing while in the Dominican and let me tell you, it was not like one would expect..lol Lots of waves..lots of ups and downs... the people I went with decided it was better to FEED the fish rather than catch them.. I was of a different opinion and chose to keep my breakfast down..lol
I like to talk. I like just shooting the breeze, enjoying the company of a friend or someone new just getting to know them. Laughing and giggling are my priority..lol I'm a people pleaser. I love the art of giving...I say art because it seems that some people have the gift of knowing what is appropriate to give and when it is appropriate give. Receiving is natural
I love to hang with my true friends and family, those are the only people who mean anything to me ...they mean the world to me.....
Living in the Okanagan is the best for the scenery, weather...*sigh* you will never find another place like it...Certainly not in Ontario anyway...But I guess I have to say there are somethings I like in Ontario such as Wasaga Beach and Sauble beach..its like being at the ocean there without the yucky salt water....Toronto rocks, Niagara falls and Marineland were fun to visit. Driving the 401 was always a good challenge, even at 1 am. Montreal is a beautiful city and my friends there.. I miss them. Oh yah sunsets are so beautiful... It was a nice interlude while it lasted but THANK GOODNESS I am back in the Okanagan. No more ridiculous weather (-40 in the winter +40 in the summer?? SHEESH) for me I tell yah!
Anyway acting is my LIFE man haha well I hope it will be anyway. I was bitten by the stage bug at a young age and am tryin' hard to make my dreams a reality. I hope to get some film and television credits soon.. Regional stuff is great for practice but union is what I'm aiming for..lol So as you can tell I got new headshots, Jane certainly does rock. I'm going back to her next time. I have to enroll in some more classes, I'm just not having any luck. So practice makes perfect and I'm gonna get sum mo' ejumakation..lol For now I work at the local Youth Centre facilitating the drama club. It is very rewarding and I love working with the kids but I still have a drive for film and television.
I have graduated from Media and Communications General Arts and Sciences in Algonquin College and took some acting classes in Vancity, it was all good. In pre-production for a school tour and will begin the drama club in Nov.
I am a published poet. I have various poems in 2 anthologies ( Gatherings Volume XII and Our words Our Revolutions) I recently received my copy of "Waiting to Soar" an anthology of poetry that was created from a poetry class I attended through Niagara College. I've had articles printed in various newspapers across the country.
I have modelled professionally while in Ottawa. You can snoop around the COGNOS website for my shots. It was such fun to be at that shoot. The photographer was so easy going and laid back. They are head and shoulders and eye shots.
I continued my passion for theatre while in Ottawa by partaking in the Moccisin Walk Gala (Congress of Aboriginal People's 30th Anniversary)presentation performance. I got to work with George Leach. It was much fun. My 'then' fiance Jeff and I ran a little dance theatre company and toured schools and local festivals.
I was in a Health Canada commercial with my infant daughter Sienna. It was 6 hours of 'hurry up and wait' and thanks to the excellent acting skills of Sienna, we were in front of the camera a total of 45 min.. lol (the woman behind us just couldn't get it right and she and her kid were the reason we were there for the 6 hours)
I have an instinct for politics... Some may say I am out spoken but I believe everyone has a right to be heard and some people are more vocal, to speak for those who (for reasons of their own) cannot speak for themselves. I believe in equality for all and every race has a right to be distinct.
