storm

love, i wanted to write something to you yesterday but i couldnt think of anything worth writing about.

that changed when i started to leave school last night. i went to the computer lab after class to check my email. shortly after i signed on, the power blinked and the computer restarted.

so, i decided to go ahead and leave before the weather got really bad. when i started to walk out of the door, the storm hit. it was one of the biggest storms that i have ever witnessed. i imagine that the winds were around 40-50 mph at times.

as i sat there watching the winds blow debris and cars and people, i couldnt help but think about the awesomeness of God. His power was evident all around me, and it was just amazing.

i dont see how anyone could sit through something like that and not know that God is real.

after about 30 minutes, the storm had calmed enough for me to try to make the drive home.

downtown was a wreck. debris was strown everywhere, lights were out, trees were down, and the roads were already starting to flood.

when i got on the interstate, lightning was striking all around me. it wasnt like normal lightning. when it struck, it seemed to last for several seconds at a time. it was beautiful.

once, when the lightning struck behind me, it looked like it actually struck the interstate itself. the flash was so bright in my rearview mirror that it scared me.

by the time that i got home, i was several miles away from the storm. it had barely even rained at our house.

i could still see the beautiful lightning in the distance though. i just sat on the porch and watched it until supper was ready.

after supper, i looked outside the window again. the sky seemed to have a sort of orange tint to it.

when i went outside to check it out, i saw one of the most awe inspiring sights that i have ever seen. there, in the midst of the orange sky, was the most beautiful rainbow that i have ever seen.

love, it was incredible. it was the first complete rainbow that i have ever seen. i wish that you could have seen it. i took a few pictures, but im afraid that they arent going to properly capture the incredible awesomeness of it.

or perhaps you did see it. maybe we were looking at the same rainbow at the same time within a few miles of each other.

God's power and promises are amazing. many people try to "find" God by going to different churches or seminars or whatever. its sad that most people miss out on seeing God because they are too busy looking for Him.

i love you and i cant wait until the day when we can share rainbows together.
