Charles County Edward Darnall Will (1754 - Charles County, MD) In the name of God Amen I Edward Darnall of Charles County Planter being very weak and infirm in Body but of a Sound and perfect Memory and good Understanding (Thanks be to Almighty God for the Same) and calling to mind the Brevity and Uncertainty of this Mortal Life and knowing that it is appointed for all Men once to die do therefore make and ordain this my last Will and Testement in Manner and form following Vis - Imprimis I give and bequeath to William Thomas one Negro Man named Jack one Cow with her future Increase and one feather Bed and furniture to him and his Heirs. Item I give to my Son Edward Two Cows and Calves and Handmill (Which are mentioned to him in a Bond) as also One Cupboard to him and his Heirs - Item I give to my Son William One Feather Bed With Striped Ticken Bolster Rug and Two Blankets to him and his Heirs----Item I give to my Son Isaac my old Gun to him and his Heirs....Item I give all the Rest of my Personal Estate not herein before mentioned Whether moveable or Inmoveable to be Equally divided amongst the Rest of my Children named as follows that is to Say, Thomas, Mary, Sarah, and Elizabeth to them and their Heirs and I do hereby Constitute and appoint my Son Edward Afsd Whole and Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament hereby Revoking and disannulling all Wills by me heretofore made Ratifying and Confirming this and none other to be my last Will and Testament --- IN TESTIMONY whereof I have hereunto Set my Hand and Seal this ___ Day of ____ Anno Domini --1751 his Edward Darnall (Seal) mark Signed Sealed and delivered) in presence of Us................) Sumner County Jarrat Darnal - 1826 Sumner County, TN Will Book #2 Page #41 In the name of God Amen: I Jarrat Darnal being in perfect health and of perfect mind and memory but calling to mind the mortality of my body and that it is appointed for all men to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in writing. First I give and recommend my soul to God who give it and my body I recommend to the dust to be buried in Decent Christian burial at the discretion of My Executors and as to My worldly estates I give and diviide in the following manner. First I give and bequeath to my son John S. Darnal my negroes, George, Cate, Bobb, Eliza, and Mariah, Nancy and Man, and one half of my household and kitchen furniture my stock of horses, Cattle, hogs and sheep my wearing apparel but that not to be sold and one half my land; I give and bequeath to my son William Darnal my negroes, Levin, Anna, Sally, and Dave and one half my household and Kitchen furniture my stock of horses, cattle, hogs and sheep and wearing apparel and one half my land also my remaining crop or property of every discription not herein named to be equally divided between the said John. S. and WIlliam Darnal after paying my just debts and raising other legacies herein after named, I give and bequeath to my grandson Francis Darnal one hundred dollars, I also give unto Sally Hardy a decent mainteainance by my sons John S and William Darnal, out of the property given them. I also nominate and appoint my son John S. Darnal my sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament. Hereby disannulling and disallowing any former Will or Wills by me made. In Testimony where of I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal This 30th Sept A.D. 1822. Signed sealed and published this last Will and Testament in presence of: Jarrat Darnal (seal) D. W. Parrish Dixon A. Stroud State of Tennessee Sumner County Court May Term 1826 A paper purporting to be the last Will and Testament of Jarrot Darnal dec'd, was exhibited in Court for probate and it appearing to the Court that David W. Parrish one of the Witnessess to said Will is absent from the State and Dixon H. Stroud, the other witness thereto is dec'd it is ordered by the Court that the handwriting of the said Stroud may be proven which is done by the oath of Sion Hunt who said that he saw the said witnesses sign said will as also the Testator and that he the Testator was of sound and disposing mind at the time thereof.
