Barbie E Reynard - On my 16th Birthday
BUTTERFLY
Crawling, wiggling
Learning, reaching.
Evading both the Bluejay
And the Crow.
Consuming knowledge as I breathe
Consuming grass, consuming leaves;
Learning God has something special planned
Not knowing but expecting
      Joy to come.
Strangeness coming over me,
Slower and more cautious do I move.
Sleepy but awake,
Leaning on God who does not forsake.
Bluejay and Crow:
Ever more vulnerable do I become -
Yearning, needing, searching, feeling -
Showing flashes of the one I will become.
Flashes only. . . .
Soon I will fly!!
Fly high and away!
Evading both the Bluejay
And the Crow.
Nipped and chased - never consumed.
Slowly wrapping in silken threads of
God's sweet protection.
If you whom I love wish to catch me
Be better than the Bluejay and the Crow.
Catch me quick before I go
Or I will be long gone -
If you want me for your own -
Fly with me.
Watch my cocoon,
It breaks open soon.
I fly away from the Bluejay
And the Crow.
I want to fly into your hand.
Watch closely or I'll be gone.
Fly away - fly away.
If you do not consume me,

No one ever will -
My Sweet Love
The dark moment the caterpillar calls the end of the world is the sun-filled moment the butterfly calls the beginning.
