Adare Festival (Also, see info below on 'Féile na Máighe')
'Féile na Máighe' will be held in Adare Village from Friday 25th May to Sunday 27th May 2012. This bilingual music, arts and history festival, which will be officially opened by Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh, celebrates the unique culture and heritage of the area.
Visitors can enjoy a diverse programme of events including live concert performances, poetry and prose recitals, seminars, workshops, inter-cultural dance displays, street-side music entertainment, music and poetry sessions in local hostelries, as well as children’s puppet shows, painting & storytelling, a Family Fun Day and the unique Ó’Riada Mass.
The Croagh School of Music will highlight the music of the legendary composer Sean O’Riada, who lived in Adare for 28 years, on Saturday in the old boys school, where he once attended as a pupil. The highly acclaimed Choir, “Cor Cul Aodha” and Micheal O'Suilleabhain, of Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, will perform, as well as the Adare choir, bodhrán player Tommy Hayes, Irish Celtic spiritual singer Nóirín Ní Riain, and the unique musical group “Liadain”.
