If you know about any changes, which have not yet been published, do not hesitate to do so! 73 from Leipzig, EiBi –- (Eike Bierwirth, May 3) http://wwwstud.uni-leipzig.de/~pge98crf/index_e.html {this is correct: no dot after www!} This is quite a monumental opus, and updated to May 3. Who needs last year`s info in PWBR? (gh) ** ARMENIA. Broadcasts of ``Intercontinental Co.`` on 9960: 1500-1615 R. Listening to Voice of Armenia earlier in the week, it was announced that the broadcast on Sunday mornings in English to Europe was at 0810-0830 on 15270 and 4810. Spot checking this morning, I heard V of Armenia in English still at 0745 on 15270 (0740-0800 listed in BDXC-UK Broadcasts in English booklet), and again at 0810 starting their English programme on 15270. Will try to re-confirm these broadcasts next Sunday (Alan Roe, UK, May 6, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** ARUBA. In Aruba the following station was observed on medium wave: VO Aruba 1320 broadcasting in Papiamento. No other stations broadcast on medium wave; they have all migrated to FM frequencies. Stations previously broadcasting on medium wave, and still shown in WRTH 2001 to be using medium wave are: R. Victoria 960, R. 1270 on 1270 and R. Kelkboom on 1440. The latter station has not been on medium wave for the last six years, having moved to FM [Max van Atnhem in Medium Wave News, APR 2001, via NRC International DX Digest May 4 via DXLD] ** BELGIUM. Subject: [HCDX] May 26 and 27 - DX-Antwerp 19th Open Day On May 26 and 27 the Antwerp DX Club DXA is organizing its 19th Open Day at Hoboken, Antwerp, with co-operation from RVi, Radio Vlaanderen Internationaal. On Saturday the 26th, the doors of "De Schorren" in the Graspolderlaan 32 will be open at 10-20 local time and the next day, Sunday, at 10-17 h. There will be almost 20 active stands demonstrating the use of world band receivers, maritime and air traffic communication, facsimile radio reception of weather maps, FM- and TV DXing, and computer applications for radio communication. We hope that we can count on your support. For listeners who would like to attend this exceptional event (we think of those living not too far away from Antwerp: in the Netherlands, the western part of Germany, and in Belgium of course), for all of you who would like to have more detailed information the DXA telephone number is +32 3 288 08 03. E-mail can be sent to info@dxa.be and the DXA WebPages can be found at http://www.dxa.be Are you coming by car? Take exit 5a of the Antwerp Ring. Follow the signposts towards Hoboken and DX-Antwerp. Tram stops of lines 2 and 4 are about 500 m. away. You are very welcome at the DXA open door! Thank you very much for your support. DX-Antwerp (Guido Schotmans, hard-core-dx May 4 via DXLD) ** COLOMBIA. (Henrik Klemetz, Suecia, May 6, Conexión Digital via DXLD) ** COSTA RICA. RFPI 21815-USB audible as late as 0500 May 5, and several mornings including May 5 before 1200, so I would not be surprised if they are leaving it on all night. As a result the Sunday 1130 airing of CONTINENT OF MEDIA is not really [suspended], and I could hear it from 1150 tune-in May 6. Perhaps those further east can hear it as early as 1130. If it is on all-night, it could well propagate including at 0800 Wednesday for another [suspended] COM (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** CZECH REPUBLIC. Of all the former Warsaw Pact countries, I enjoy Radio Prague the most. Program production quality is quite high, and RP focuses on Czech matters, quite often in the context of the Czech Republic`s ongoing adjustment to a market-based economy. The subject matter generally doesn`t seem as ``heavy`` as is found on its peers. R. Prague`s announcers sound like they enjoy their work, and their English language pronunciation doesn`t require intense concentration to understand (Richard D. Cuff, Easy Listening, May NASWA Journal via DXLD) ** CZECH REPUBLIC. Today the first shortwave broadcast of Radio Sunshine on 6015 took place. I think they were on from 0900 already. Mostly light music; they explained why a Belgian station is broadcasting in German [not English as recently reported] and emphasized that they are no pirate. The broadcast was live, // FM 106.2 and perhaps indeed caught off air at Jülich; the FM transmitter is low powered but Jülich just some 35 km away, so the signal could be sufficient for monaural Ballempfang with a high gain antenna. The music audio was perfect, the announcer`s mike of a quality which was not below the standard of much bigger broadcasters, where the infamous RE20 is widely in use. Quite professional programming, at least when taking into account that Radio Sunshine is a really small station. Some further details about this station, including a shot of the FM transmitter: http://212.227.137.190/radioszene/sunshine.htm (Kai Ludwig, Germany, May 6, DX LISTENING DIGEST) Radio Sunshine noted 0955 on 6015 with weather information, raffic reports and music, excellent signals, station in German not English as stated in DXLD 1-060 (Mike Barraclough, UK, May 6, DX LISTENING DIGEST) Warum, dann, in der Welt heißen sie es nicht ``Sonnenschein Rundfunk``?? (Glenn Hauser, DXLD) ** GUINEA. The Conakry tx on 4900 seems to have been dead for ages. But found them on 7125 kHz with fair signal at 2200 May 2. Not the most exciting px I have heard (govt. news, govt. news, and govt. news). It is I suppose also still no-QSLer? (Johan Berglund, Trollhättan, Sweden, DX LISTENING DIGEST) I received a QSL letter from them in 1999. 73, (Enzio Gehrig Denia / Spain (38.50N/000.04E), hard-core-dx via DXLD) ** HAWAII. Looking for Tashkent 17775 just before 1200 UT Sat May 5, I was surprised to come upon World Harvest Radio ID on 17780, and at 1201 recheck a preacher with a very heavy accent, so heavy that every few seconds I had to reassure myself that he was really trying to speak English. This is a KWHR frequency which is supposed to close at 1000 UT! Perhaps the Na`alehu operator fell asleep? At 1228 into a WHR plug but did not play one of their standard ``next broadcast is on a different frequency`` announcements; instead cut off abruptly at 1229, and came up on 9930 (which had been vacant just before), the frequency it was supposed to switch to at 1000, and 1230 into Vietnamese -– Que Huong Radio scheduled; recheck at 1400 opening RFA in Vietnamese. According to WHR posted schedule, the 1200 show supposedly on 9930 is: Gospel Distribution Ministries, Julius Dewumi 9.930 MHz ANGEL 3. BTW, reception here was much better on 17 than on 9 even though it was a darkness path. 24h later, on Sunday morning May 6, KWHR was already on 9930 before 1200, and 17775 was clear for Tashkent (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** HONDURAS. Over the last month I have regularly received R. Litoral, La Ceiba, Honduras on 4832 kHz. Today (May 5th) 0300 UT, I heard them on 4830.05 with an English religious program (O=2). I am sure it was R. Litoral, because they gave an English ID (same as I recorded a few weeks ago on 4832). I had also noted the use of 4830 on Easter Sunday. After that only on 4832. Does someone know if this change is on purpose (test?), or is it just uncontrolled drifting (as would be suggested by the fact they are just off the 4830.0 mark). Regards, (Aart Rouw, Bühl, Germany, AR7030 + 25m Longwire+MLB, Hard- Core-DX mailing list via DXLD) ** INTERNATIONAL VACUUM. The frequency, Kenneth, of Pioneer X, which has just set the line-of-sight DX record as picked up by a dish in Spain, is 2292 MHz, with 8 watts (Kim Elliott, VOA Communications World, May 5, via gh, DXLD) ** LITHUANIA. Subject: Radio Vilnius - new time and freq. The old 9875 kHz transmission at 0030Z has, of course, been advanced to 2330Z since the daylight saving shift. There have apparently been complaints to Vilnius about reception which they are addressing by initiating an additional transmission at 0030Z on 11690. The two broadcasts appear to be identical, but you can now choose between them. Both were over S9 (about -75dBm on a TenTec RX340) tonight (Albert P. BELLE ISLE, Cerberus Systems, Inc., location unknown, May 4, rec.radio.shortwave via John Norfolk, DXLD) It was announced in the R. Vilnius mailbag programme this morning (Sunday 6 May on 9710 at 0930) that owing to many reports of poor reception of the 2330 broadcast to NAm at 2330, there would now be an additional English broadcast to NAm at 0030 on 11690. The presenter said that they do care about listeners comments. In response to a listener`s suggestion that the programme should also be carried live on the Internet at the same time, he said this was being considered by the Management and was "likely to receive a favourable solution". (Alan Roe, UK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** MEXICO. DST confirmed in effect as of May 6, as XERMX already on the air at 1202 UT on 9705, at first barely audible mixed with CCI, but growing to dominant before 1230. \\ 11770 inaudible at first, but there by 1240 check. Look for English segments one UT hour earlier now. Unfortunately, their website program schedule is only in a pdf version I can`t get to work (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** NETHERLANDS. Radio Continente, Gerillo, provincia de Moyobamba, departamento de San Martín. April 2001. New Peruvian also reported in in SWB 1457. From the beginning they just identified as "L.P.C. La radio". "L.P.C." stands for "La Petición Contestada". Now proper IDs with name, province and dpto. 6339.67, San Miguel Arcángel Radio, provincia de San Miguel, departamento de Cajamarca. May 2 2001 - 1205* UT. I have never [before] on any occasion observed something on this frequency. The DJ repeats several times a phone number where the listeners could phone in information of the signal strength. I caught the number as: "044 85 71 45". Also several times said "San Miguel Arcángel y su nueva señal....sistema de onda corta...", so something has ``happened`` even if the station is listed in WRTH. Maybe reactivated with new equipment? From 1107 the church "Dios es amor" presented the religious programme "La Voz de la Liberación". 1205 UT the DJ announced a change from SW to the MW- frequency, which I didn`t get. Stable frequency, decent signal and a fast talking DJ with a distorted mike. Off air the following days. 6524.07, "No name", Cajaruro, provincia de Utcubamba, departamento de Amazonas. April 2001. New Peruvian which I reported in SWB 1457, without being sure of the QTH. Can also be a short word of circa 3 letters) + 5426 Cajaruro, provincia de Utcubamba, departamento de Amazonas". Still seems to be without name -– always calls itself "esta emisora". Greetings to among others Buenavista, Villaflores, Naranjos, San José and San Juan. Transmits 2200-0100 UT and in my opinion seems to be a purchased voice for "Perú Posible"! 6626.93, Radio Uno, Chiclayo. May 2 2001 - 2335 UT. Back after being off air for a while. See comments below for 6839.92! 6839.92, "Radio San Juan", unknown QTH (Peru). Now it seems to fall into the trap! I have heard the male DJ several times on various frequencies with his Radio San Juan". A few days later he could be heard a short while as DJ at Radio Uno, Chiclayo on the frequency of 6626.93. Comments have arrived from Hermod Pedersen/HeP, Henrik Klemetz/HK and Thord Knutsson/TK: (thank you all!) 5175.48, I said in previous SWB the transmitting place is "Querillos" but HK points out that the only place that ``matches`` is "Gerillo". Completely right, now I clearly can hear that the first letter is pronounced as "j" in "jardín". I caught the address as "Girón y Bilgrau, Manzana 18 lote 11". Henrik Klemetz means that the first part instead ought to be "Jirón Miguel Grau..." 6524.07, I and HK have different opinions about "Cien-Uno" as I wrote in previous SWB. Instead, according to HK it ought to be "Ciento Uno/101". As a matter of fact I don`t write "101" but "100 - 1" = "Cien - Uno" = two separate numbers. "Uno" I think stands for the president candidate no 1, Toledo. "100" might stand for some geographic classification? Who knows, maybe the DJ after all says "101"/"Ciento Uno", really, I am not at all sure! I caught the transmitting place as "Cajaduro" but HeP has convinced me that it is spelled "Cajaruro". Both Hermod Pedersen and Thord Knutsson have mailed comments regarding Radio Cajabamba on 5632.94 and Radio Perú on 5637.27. This due to the fact that the Peruvian Dx-er Pedro Arrunátegui have logged Radio Cajabamba on exactly the same frequency as Radio Perú. My logging of Radio Cajabamba on 5632.94 is 100% positive and Radio Perú is rock steady on 5637.27 kHz. I have at last raised my little 15 m L-antenna, fitted on our roof terrace, from the height of 2 meters up to the tremendous height of 5 meters above the roof! 73 from BM in Quito!
