The 1996-97 season wasn't Rivet's first time with the Habs. He played five games with Montreal in 1994-95 and 19 games in 1995-96. However the 1996-97 season was the first time he got to play in the playoffs and not just play one game but all five Montreal playoff games. He is slowly trying to make a place for himself on the team as a regular.
Rivet was drafted in the third-round of the 1992 draft by the Canadiens. Rivet is a solid young defenceman who just needs experience and time. The expertise of the veterans should rub off on him and hopefully we're looking at a future great defenceman for the Habs.
Rivet spent the better half of 1996-97 in Fredericton, Montreal's farm team, but maybe soon things will change for him and the Habs will let him play 50 games or more.
