Darby was originally drafted by the Habs in 1991 but only played in Montreal for 10 games in 1994-1995 before being traded to the Islanders along with Kirk Muller and Mathieu Schneider for Pierre Turgeon and Vladimir Malakhov. Darby played for the Flyers in 1996-1997. Darby played for Nashville's IHL team all of 1998-1999. The Habs signed Darby as a free agent on August 4, 1999 and has been with the Habs ever since.
