Rene was raised in what she calls "welfare row". Her father left her and her mother when she was two years old.
She had scouliosis (sp?) as a young girl which forced her to wear a brace.
This in combination with her height caused her to suffer from low self-esteem. It was so
bad in fact that she quit high school in the tenth grade to get a job inspecting eye glasses- this helped her
make more money for her mother because they were so destitute. As a teenager she became infatuated with
Mick Jagger and went to almost every Rolling Stones concert she could. It was after one of these
concerts that she was discovered by a man who got her the job at the Ford Modeling Agency. He described her
as the most beautiful woman he has ever seen. She modeled for a few years, landing on the cover of Vogue
just after her 19th birthday. Soon, though, she became bored with modeling and inquired with Crosby, the man who
originally introduced her to the Ford, to try acting. Need I say more?
Mrs. Russo is a devout Christian, she even asked God for permission to film the love scenes
with Pierce Brosnan in TCA.
"I don't know where in the Bible it says, 'Don't be nude in a motion picture,'" Russo says.
