The Turtle

I have a testimony from when I was three,
The Lord gave me a gift and said it was free.
It's the first of my memories of learning to pray,
When I had a longing to own a turtle someday.

I had seen some children with one on the ground,
And all I remember is wanting my own to be found.
I knelt by my bed and clasped my little hands
together, And I said Lord, If you send me a turtle
I'll thank you forever.

I said my prayer for many a day,
And then I ran out to happily play.
This day was different, it was sunny and bright,
And I couldn't wait to be in God's precious light.

As I opened the door to greet the world,
I began to see God's plan unfurl.
He'd heard the prayers of an innocent child,
And it pleased Him so much that He waited a while.
Spending time in His presence in a prayer so true,
Is all He desires from me and from you.
Yes, He'd granted the desire of my young little
heart, And my walk with the Lord began in a deep
rooted start.

And right in the middle of the sidewalk for me,
Was the answer to my prayer that was destined to
be. A turtle, so beautiful that it filled me
with joy, And it was even better than the best
new toy.

It changed something in me that has lasted for
years, Because my Father In heaven cares about my
hopes and my fears.
He built faith in my heart and trust in my soul,
And that part of my heart will never grow old.

So Father, I thank you for hearing my prayers,
I know now that you listen to all of our cares.
Father, help us be as that little child,
With a heart that is pure, innocent and mild.
I love you so much , nothing else will do,
But spend the rest of my days longing for you.

THE LAMP!

The evening of Aug. 9, 2000, our locality was under a severe thunder storm warning, that turned into a tornado warning. I live alone in an upstairs apartment with my cat. As the storm grew worse, I turned out all the lights and unplugged the phone, tv. and computer, stood in the window to watch. AS the lightening kept the sky lit up like the sun, I watched for tornados. I held my Bible up to my chest, praying, then I started singing , Amazing Grace, both of which I find comfort. { Now I have to explain something first, then I can continue..} {My daughter and her family bought me a touch lamp with glass panes for the shade. Each of the 5 sections has the picture of the guardian angel watching over the 2 small children on the bridge. It was like one that hung in my grandparents living room when I was a child, and I loved it. } { That lamp was setting on a table, about 3 feet from the window I was standing in, it too was turned off} As I stood there, holding my Bible, singing, {cat at my feet,} my eyes closed,,,,then the sky lit up very bright...I opened my eyes, looked to see if it was a tornado...then I looked to my left...that touch lamp was on ! I had to just stare for a few min. at it. Knowing I didn't do it, I was amazed, and then it dawned on me, God had turned it on, to let me now that He was with me..I wasn't in the dark any more, not to fear. I felt the Spirit so strong that all I could do was, say Thank you Lord! I walked over to the lamp and read the writing on the bottom of each pane. It said " O K Lighting." At first I thought it said "OK Lightning." The fear I felt earlier was gone. Several tornados were seen that night. One,touching down about 6 miles from here. God chose the best way He could to show me that He was with me, not to FEAR! Thank God,,,,Patricia.

Thank you Patricia for that inspirational story!

Hello Friend,

I'm praying that your day is filled with love and many things to be thankful for.

It is a day where I feel as if my mind is consumed with thoughts of how wonderful life can be throughout all of my personal worries ~or hardships.

Jesus has chosen me to fulfill my life's journey and only I am able to fulfil His plans for me.

Although, I have stumbled and even fallen on more than one occasion. I still have complete faith and hope of a better tomorrow.

Everyone journeys through character as well as through time.
The person one becomes depends on the person one has been.
You don't stop laughing because you grow old;
you grow old because you stop laughing.
To those who are facing the holidays without loved ones surrounding them ~you are blessed with a friendship from me that will not falter.

I love you unconditionally and without judgements!
To us who have health related issues ~i'm thankful for my physicians guided skills to make me at least comfortable ~for the most part.

God gave us burdens, but he also gave us shoulders to lean upon.
There are no hopeless situation; there are just people who have grown hopeless about them.
Peace is not a season; it is a way of life.
I personally see God in every person I meet.
When we seek to discover the best in other's, we somehow bring out the best in ourselves.
The people who make the difference are not the one's with the credentials, but the one's with the concern.
The best and most beautiful things cannot be seen, but felt in the heart, so wherever you go ~go with all of your heart.

No machine can replace the human spark; spirit, compassion, love, and most important ~understanding!
I'm glad for my life, as it gives me the chance to love, to work, to play, and to look up at the stars.
As long as we can grasp that the purpose of life ~is life.
Then there is hope ~and hope is our waking dream!
As a closing thought I like to always remember that the most important things in life aren't 'things'...
I'm thankful to be able to call you my friend.
Have a happy and blessed day.
I Love You!

With Christian Love,
