I am 60, married, mother of three, nine grandchildren and one great
-grandchild. I retired with Weyerhaeuser Paper Company in 1995 after working for them
for 17 1/2 years starting out as a tour guide and part time office and then most of my
career was working as a receptionist/switchboard operator. Worked the first 15 years in
Valliant, OK and the last 2 1/2 years in Longview, WA
Each of my children have children.
Daughter Gayle has two boys and one girl.
Daughter Donna has two girls and one boy.
Son Mike has one boy and two girls.
In 1992 C.K.'s job working for Brown & Root as a Millwright/Machinist
took us to Longview, Washington. The goal was to return to Oklahoma in five years
to retire. While there we took advantage of the beautiful Northwest and saw
everything that we possibly could in Oregon, Washington on up into Canada. During this time we were
even able to take a two week tour of Alaska, doing one week by land and the other week on
a cruise.
September of 1997 brought us back to McAlester, OK where I was raised and went to
High School. My mother who will be 87 in September lives here in a retirement plaza. Now we
are only a couple hours drive from the rest of the family rather than clear across the
country. C.K. came out of retirement and has gone back to work for Boeing as a
Supervisor in the Machine shop on third shift - 12:00 midnight till 7:00 in the morning...He seems
to like it really well. He plans to work at least two more years. We moved into our new home a year ago this August. Hopefully we will never have to pack and unpack another box in our life-time.
