I Only Knew What I'd Feared

They all had got to see you,

To watch your chest rise and fall,

But all that I was granted

Was that one short phone call.

They all said I was lucky

That I missed the deepest pain.

But the whole time you were gone;

I was going insane.

‘Cause I never got to see you

To prove that you were there,

It’s amazing what one can do,

What one girl can bear.

I never let the world

See a glimpse of all my tears.

Because he who never sees,

Only knows what he fears.
