Nightmare Under the Stars

On a winding road

In the crisp Autumn breeze,

A car was slowly driving,

Winding through the trees.

Inside the car sat two,

A girl and a boy.

They were so in love

And the car was filled with joy.

They were slowly driving home

After he had asked her for life,

To stay by his side

To be his angelic wife.

A white dress would mean something

For they both had stayed pure.

They had always waited

That’s just how things were.

So they headed for home

She had to ell her mom and dad.

They were so proud of her

And aware of the treasure they had.

Suddenly a light flashed before them

Combined with a sickening sound.

The crunching of the metal

Filled the night air all around.

The girl reached over

And squeezed the boys hand.

And felt the cold metal

Of the shining gold band.

She felt for pulse,

And she felt a faint beat.

And they held their hands tightly

Upon the twisted seat.

As she lay next to her sweetheart

She felt her life slipping away.

It was so unfair

They’d never have a wedding day.

She could hear the sirens coming

and thought she might survive,

She was going in and out

She was barely alive.

There was blood all around them

And she realized it was her own.

And soon she’d face the harsh world

Completely alone.

She held his hand, and he kissed her

And breathed his last breath.

She was glad she was with him

And knew she’d soon join him in death.

She tightly clasped his hand

As her life danced before her eyes.

And she breathed her last breath

Under the starry skies.

So now please remember them, all of their pain

And how their parents must feel,

So please don’t have been drinking

When you get behind the wheel.
