How To Tell
How can you tell if you're in love?
just saying it isn't enough
because you know as well as I
that it might be a bluff
unlike many people though
I don't lie about what my heart tells me
it usually ends up hurting someone
but I'm going to let you see
what steps I go through
to tell if love is what I really feel
so you have an early warning
as to when you shouldn't steal
that person's heart….

when you'll never let that person go
and you never think about being with any other person
no matter how rich, now matter how fun
you refuse to let your heart run

when no matter how many arguments you have
you'll say, "it was my fault"
just to make them happy
and just their smile makes everything halt

you'd never break that person's heart
you don't like to see them cry
it just hurts so much
you'll do anything to help without asking why

you learn for yourself
that you'd take any pain for them
you would take it all
even if multiplied by a hundred and ten

when you miss them so much
just because you're not holding their hand
you miss them so much that tears fog your eyes
and your heart feels like it's sinking in quick sand

when the simplest little note
can brighten your day
you wouldn't sell that note to anyone
no matter how much they would pay

The sound of their voice
is all you need to get you through anything
you hope that it's them
when you hear any phone ring

and you can't have them back again
it hurts more than anything
it's beyond what I can express with pen
so save that persons heart
don't tell them you love them unless you're sure
some say you can forget about it
but when you lose true love, there is no cure
