BATTLE OF THE PLANETS/GATCHAMAN

Kagaku Ninja Tai Gatchaman!
Battle of The Planets, Eagle Riders, G-Force. All pretty much the same thing - well they all use the same film but have the story edited differently. The original was named Gatchaman - a story about five teenage ninja with OTT super powers. Gatchaman was a bloody affair with a kick bum story. It's illegitimate children endured a small amount of "minor surgery" to ensure it's content was suitable for kids.
I grew up on Battle of the Planets but have getting into Gatchaman. Ah, the weapons, the Phoenix.....I will place a few links here which I will compile in the next week (eek). The main character Mark (the one with the white bird outfit)from BOTP was voiced by the same dude who played Shaggy in Scooby Doo.....coo......

THE GODPHOENIX

The original craft for Gatchaman/G-Force. One that I longed for desperately as a kid. I never found it. I soon realised that it was a toy never made...

THE GODPHOENIX TOY

The toy that I realised was never made was, in fact, actually made in Japan. Oh Bother. It looked so good..

TOP 5 COMPUTER GAMES OF ALL TIME SO FAR

5
BLADE RUNNER
A truely amazing game which contains the flair, grit, atmosphere and, well, story of the original film of the original book.
It feels like blade runner (takes you to all the locations of the movie) and even flows with the Blade Runner canon. Your story co-exists at the same time as Deckard's! Those crafty guys and gals at Westwood even managed to mug (as in ask nicely) the original actors (sans Mr H Ford) from the film and got them to rekindle their parts! Their roles aren't big (especially William Sanderson's part and you'd expect more involvement with Sean Young (heh) but they just add to the magik.
Add the muliple endings, the cool animation and the fast quantity of disk space required to run the thing and you have one hell of a game!
Woo.

FINAL FANTASY 8
A very goood game. Pity it's predecessor is better which must cause a few blushes to the Squaresoft team. Story is long and fruitful (but with less shocks than FF7).. the fighting system is interesting (but not as well rounded as FF7).. the character's are cute (but let's face it, does anyone really like Squall?) - and they are no where NEAR as interesting as the FF7 gang.
The animation however is just liquid drool. Better than FF7 and better than other stuff, it's art, guy and you'd better like it.
Is it harder than FF7? Not at first. The first 20 - 25 hours are as easy as finding the off button on a Playstation. After that, it's as easy as finding a reason to buy James Belushi's "K9" or as easy as finding a good reason why Robocop 3 should have been shown first at cinemas rather than going straight to video.
GET MY POINT?
3
CHAOS
This takes me back. It's old, it's crusty, it's perfect. You all play wizards. You have a random amount of spells. You create offensive and defensive spells to kill the other players. Fore runner for many turn based games including UFO...
Wicked.
The Computer had a tendency to cheat though....
2
HARDWAR
Remember Elite? Remember how it was actually rather boring and you'd wished there had been a plot somewhere?
Well this is the plot.
Set on Titan (I really do think..) you play a Pirate/traveller/scavenger/police/bounty hunter/tradesman who has to get off the planet. You start with a crappy hover thing called a hopper and get on with earning your keep by selling/killing thoughout Titan's inhabited craters.
But there's a corporate war going on and who's side you gonna take? And what are they hiding?
This game get me going for 60 hours and it didn't feel long enough. Build a base, buy a selection of ships, annoy a corporation, take out the police...
A non linear game with a hidden linear agenda if you want that "plot" we talked about earlier.....
Pretty much perfect. If only it was longer!

FINAL FANTASY 7
The Best. Shock story, likeable characters, excellent combat system, COOL music, just perfect... YOU want ONE problem? Then I give it to you - The ending. It's rushed, man. That's no way a ending to 60-80 hours of gameplay!

Okay, It's not that bad - but it could have better.

Final Fantasy is THE experience. Nothing more needs to be said. If you are lacking a copy, you are an idiot.
