Okay. This was just to let me learn how to do tables on something no one would ever ever see. But my "friend" Rachel linked to a page that no longer exists that WAS on this URL, without consulting me as to which I wanted looked at. Rrrrrgh. She's an evil person and spelled Jane Austen's name wrong. Anyway, this page is not the one you want to look at. Maybe later, but not now. I sincerely loathe the personal page concept and will not be a part of it. You can get impressions of my sparkling personality from what I choose to profile on my page itself, my opinions of those things, etc. But I do like venting randomly, so you'll probably find something here sooner or later.

Okay, I'm back. I'm going to use this for ranting. First thing, which is on my mind because of one of my banner exchanges. Why the HELL do people think they know better for anime characters than the writers do? The Ukyo and Ryoga thing being a prime example. They may make good partners, but their partnership is always devoted towards breaking up Ranma and Akane, not towards bringing THEM together. There's no chemistry whatsoever. THEY DON'T LOVE EACH OTHER!! It's *simple.* Same goes for
Another thing, not so much a rant as an observation. Where are the anime lesbians? Fatora and Alliele in El-Hazard, apparently two Sailor Moon characters, and... that seems to be it. There's a tendency to put straight women (Madoka and Hikaru, the other El-Hazard women) in ambiguously gay situations, but not to show lesbian couples. Gay men, on the other hand.... Hey, I'm not complaining. It doesn't do much for me, but I think it's a cool reversal of the U.S. attitude. "Ugh, hot two-girl action!"
A note, for my own later use and your personal edification: Anime Geminis featured on this page include Kaoru (6/2/1862, if I read the date right), Kenshin (6/20/1851)(YEEE! I *knew* they were perfect together!), Shinji (6/6/2000), Madoka (May 25, 1969 [or 1972, in the anime]), Chichiri (okay, so he's NOT in here, he's still my baby), and those are all I can think of for the moment. Hayama's a Libra (10/12). Sana's a Pisces, and Nuriko probably is as well, though I thought he was a Virgo for some reason. Miaka's a Taurus (5/12/77), Tamahome a Cancer (6/28/??). Hotohori's an Aries (4/2). Kyosuke, to my horror, is a Scorpio, but I *think* he's nearly a Libra. I don't know on Ranma and Akane, but they both have to be fire signs. They HAVE to be. I think Akane's an Aries, and Ranma could be an Aries or a Leo. Kaworu (Shinji's love) is a Virgo (9/13/2000). Hitomi and Van are air and fire, respectively. I know this. Same goes for Deed and Parn.
Been a while since I updated this... over 900 hits, now... ::contemplates this:: Okay. I'm considering where to go with all this next. I would like to... well, I'd like to get into Fortunecity again so I could edit the pages I already have. I would also like to make a few new pages, in addition to fixing up the two CLAMP-related new ones I have. Long ago, Rachel suggested Makoto and Ifurita from the El-Hazard OVA, which isn't an option I much like... I don't know why, the two of them together just bother me. No, I do know why, it's that she has no personality to speak of till he gives her one. Obviously they're meant to be together after that, they've effectively had the same life. Other possibilities are Keiichi and Belldandy (kind of boring, but clearly meant to be), and possibly DNA2 (no clear-cut couple) or Video Girl Ai (it's GOT to be Ai and Yota, guys, it just has to be!) Or.... Sailor Moon. I could use either Usagi and Mamoru, or Haruka and Michiru. I shy away from using things I haven't seen, though. That's why there's not Ai and Yota page yet, and why the KareKano page isn't classed as a couple page.
Sailor Moon, while it is a part of the Unholy Trinity, is the least of the evils. It's far better than Dragonball or Pokemon. It's kind of cheesy, yeah, but not in an inherently bad or pain-inducing way, and the art's pretty. Pokemon comes after it; it's too cute, and I REALLY dislike all the toys that take up counter space in Planet Comics, but it's basically just a kid's cartoon. Dragonball, however.... It's stupid. It's superhero stuff. The art is FIERCELY ugly, and worst of all, the show's target audience is older than cartoon age. Some people may think "It's not a cartoon, it's anime. So that's what this anime's like! Wow, anime's stupid." The damage it's doing is even worse than the damage being done by Sailor Moon; SM at least (a) brings together elements (short-skirted girls, cosmic evil, combat, reincarnation, astrology and that dumpling hairdo) that have not previously been mixed in America, and (b) brought many of its fans into contact with other animes, through the fact that they probably had to get fansubs (or legal ones? are there any?) to keep following the series. Dragonball, though.... oy oy oy. I don't know what Dragonball leads you to. Maybe more martial arts anime. Maybe crack addiction. I don't care. I just want it to go away.
Ooops... forgot the implied future ambiguously gay duo of Anthy and Utena. Seth of the OUAS, to my INTENSE annoyance, hated Utena and wouldn't order any more of the fansub; one of his reasons was "the lesbianism in the credits that's just not there in the series." Though I've been led to believe it is, later. What was that all about, disappointment? Grrrr. Typical male. ANYway, thanks to him I have to get my Utena DUBBED, legally, expensively. I need a vice.
Anyway, I started with Ukyo. I read a character profile here that sort of rendered Ukyo in a new light. He (I assume it's a he) points out that Ukyo loves Ranma unconditionally, unlike the other suitors and stalkers; she never tries to separate Ranma and Akane directly, through potions, drugs, manipulation (the reversal jewel) or blackmail, but rather tries things like the cave (it was basically up to them if they were separated on the way out) or the date with Ryoga, which she was doing more as a favor for both daters than anything else. And that point where she keeps changing Ranma back and forth between his forms will always be one of my favorite scenes. On the other hand, that habit of hitting people who embarrass her is kind of annoying, even if I do it too. I'm prepared to believe that she's cooler in the manga than the anime, though.
