What is done to a

Here are some OPINIONS on the above, no guarantee of accuracy:

1) Headlamps and taillamps (entire assemblies) should have been replaced with U.S. spec units. In addition, turn signal/parking lamps should have been installed under the front bumper.

2) Front bumper should have received an impact bar behind it to conform to 2.5mph standard. This would result in the bumper only moving out about 1/2".

3) Likely that an aftermarket A/C, elec windows, central locking all possibly added (not mandated, of course)

4) Tires must have DoT labels (most usually did anyway)

5) Complete emission-control equipment for 1984 model year including catalytic converter, EGR, etc.

6) U.S.-spec decals: tire pressure in glovebox lid, UNLEADED FUEL ONLY label on gas gauge and fuel lid.

7) Km-spec odometer/speedometer replaced with certified mile-spec unit

8) Side-guard door beams welded into doors

9) Contrary to popular opinion, windshield and other glass did NOT have to be replaced, as all M-B glass worldwide carried DoT certification imprint
