Betty's Haven

Granddaughter Poem

My little granddaughter..

Though miles apart...

Somehow, already...

You've stolen my heart..

Little granddaughter...

So far away....

I am so glad....

You're coming to stay....

Your parents are flying....

Across the ocean....

To meet you soon....

With so much emotion....

All bottled up....

With love inside....

For a sweet little girl....

They will live to guide...

They'll teach her to talk....

They'll teach her to ride....

They'll teach her of love...

That will always abide...

She was chosen for them....

From across the Sea....

To come to America...

The land of the free....

What opportunity awaits you...

My sweet grandchild...

You'll be so much more...

Than just an orphan file....

With family that loves you...

With all their hearts....

You'll soon forget....

You were ever apart...

You're in this family...

With so much love....

You'll learn about GOD....

In Heaven above....

Sweet little angel....

Sent for my girl...

She has waited so long....

For you in her world....

Your daddy, so great...

Will teach you plenty...

The value of life....

And also the penny....

He'll teach you golf...

And how to putt....

To swing and play....

Not be in a rut....

As for me....

Your grandmother to be...

I can hardly wait...

To hold on my knee...

And tell you the stories...

Of your mommy dear...

When she was small...

Without a fear....

The joy she brought...

To me back then...

Still burns in my mind...

For what she has been....

All grown up now...

Her own life to live...

To experience Motherhood...

With love to give...

Just like me...

She'll have the start....

To train a small life...

That one day will part...

From her to the world...

To find her own place...

She learned from her mom....

How to embrace....

By Grandma Betty Sept 9-1998

This poem is about the new little grand-
daughter that my daughter and her
husband are adopting from another country.
My daughter and her husband are so happy
to get her. I was inspired to do this
poem when I found out about her.
