DALE / DEAL / DIEHL HISTORY

BACK TO HOME PAGE

The furtherest I have traced my DALE/DEAL/DIEHL line back, is to a gentleman from Pennsylvania named PAUL DEAL/DIEHL. He was born around 1772 and had a wife named Mary. They were married in Pennsylvania about 1799/1800. They had about 12 children: PHILIP, CHRISTOPHER, ADAM, GEORGE, PAUL, ELIZABETH, SARAH, CHRISTINA, HANNAH, MOLLY, CATHARINE, & JACOB. My interest lies with JACOB and his wife MARIAH METZGER. They were my greatgreatgrandparents.
But for now let's go back to Paul & Mary. I have no idea where in Pennsylvania they were from. First place I know for sure they were was Miami County, Ohio. After leaving Miami County, Ohio they made their way to Darke County, Ohio. Mary died. Have no idea where or when, Paul died about 1851 in Darke County, Ohio. After his death the children and their families either stayed in Ohio or went to Indiana. Mostly to Blackford County, Indiana. My gggrandparents JACOB F. & MARIAH had went on to Livingston County, Illinois. Then on to Crawford County, Kansas. After the openning of the Oklahoma Territory for landruns my ancestors made the decision to try their luck at that!

THINGS TO NOTE ABOUT THE DALE/DEAL/DIEHL FAMILY
**RESEARCH IS DIFFICULT DUE TO THE NAME CHANGES!
**THE FAMILY USED THE "DIEHL" SPELLING UNTIL LATE 1700's
**THE FAMILY USED THE "DEAL" SPELLING UNTIL ABOUT 1850
**THE "DALE" SPELLING IS CURRENTLY IN USE
**THE EARLY FAMILY HISTORICALLY WAS ASSOCIATED WITH THE THE CHURCH OF THE BRETHREN
