JOSEPH JOBE






Joseph JOBE married Elizabeth PHILLIPS on July 4, 1841 in Tishomingo County, Mississippi. She was the daughter of Lazarus PHILLIPS and Rachel SANDERS. Elizabeth PHILLIPS was born in 1821 in Chatham County, North Carolina, and died November 1870 in Alcorn County, Mississippi. Joseph JOBE was buried in Vanderford Cemetery in Tishomingo County, Mississippi. In 1850 he was listed in the Alcorn County, MS Census as age 28, with Elizabeth age 40, William, Sarah, and Taylor. In the 1860 Alcorn Co., MS Census, he was listed with Elizabeth, William, Sarah, and Zachary. Joseph was a twin. Elizabeth [PHILLIPS] JOBE is also buried in Vanderford Cemetery in Tishomingo County, Mississippi.

married Jeremiah PHILLIPS on October 13, 1840 in Tishomingo Co., MS. Jeremiah PHILLIPS was the son of Lazarus PHILLIPS and Rachel SANDERS. He was born about 1813 in North Carolina and died October 13, 1868.

ANNIE VIRGINIA JOBE






Annie Virginia JOBE was born October 8, 1845 in Arkansas, and died July 4, 1932. She married William Columbus BARKER on October 6, 1865 in Tishomingo County, Mississippi . Willaim Columbus BARKER was the son of Milo BARKER and Fannie PHILLIPS. He was born December 16, 1838 in Mississippi, and died March 15, 1926 in Alcorn County, Mississippi. Annie Virginia [JOBE] BARKER is buried in Wheeler Grove Cemetery in Alcorn County, Mississippi. She was enumberated in the 1880 Alcorn County, MS Census, Dist. #4, HH-406 with W. C. BARKER 43, MS NC TN, A. V. BARKER 36 AR TN TN, Z> T> BARKER 8 MS MS AR, W. O. BARKER 6 MS MS AR, E. C. BARKER 5 MS MS AR, I. P. BARKER 3 MS MS AR, and F. M. BARKER 2 MS MS AR. In the 1920 Alcorn County, MS Census, William Columbus BARKER 83 MS TN TN, and wife Annie 76 AR AL AR were listed. On September 4, 1926, Annie Virginia {JOBE} BARKER was living at RFD, Corinth, Alcorn Co., MS at the time she made an Application for Confederate Pension for her deceased husband William Columbus BARKER. Her tombstone says "Annie Virginia BARKER Oct. 8, 1845--July 4, 1932." William Columbus BARKER applied for a Confederate Pension on August 25, 1909. He was 59 years of age, and living in Alcorn Co., MS. It said he was born in Tishomingo Co., MS and that he enlisted in 1861 in the 26th Mississippi Regiment. His Commander was Commander A. Reynolds, Company B, and Captain Gallahar. He served for 4 years, and never transferred to another command. He surrendered at Apomattox Court House, VA at at the time he surrendered was a prisoner. He was living with a son, and he was the father of six children. It was witnessed by W. W. JOBE and R. F. MORTON. At the age of 83, he also applied for a pension. He was living in Alcorn Co., MS at P. O. Box, Corinth, MS RFD. He married Annie Virginia JOBE in Tishomingo Co., MS in 1862. On June 28, 1865 he was living with his son I. P. BARKER as was 68 years of age. He was wounded in his thigh on February 15, 1862 at Fort Donaldson and was captured, and held in prison at Fort Monroe for two months. When asked "Have you lost total use of a hand or foot? he responded "Yes". He was first wounded at Fort Donaldson, and suffered a second wound at Turkey Ridge, VA. On his "Application for Indigent Soldier or Sailor of the late Confederacy under Chapter 73, Act of 1900" the following information was given. William C. BARKER was 62 years of age, lving in Alcorn Co., MS at P. O. Box, Corinth, MS. Says he lived in Mississippi all his life. He enlisted in Tishomingo Co., MS in July 1861 in the 26th Mississippi Regiment, Company B. Commanding officer was Col. A. E. REYNOLDS. His Captain was N. Gollahar.He served four years with this Company. He was wounded the first time at Fort Donaldson and the second time at Turkey Ridge, VA in the thigh and arm. He was with this command when the Army surrendered in 1865. Dated August 5, 1900. Certificate of County Health Officer sworn by W. W. JOBE and others and dated September 4, 1900. On another Application of Indigent Soldier or Sailor of the late Confederacy under Chapter 73, Act of 1900, it stated that W. C. BARKER was 68 years old and living in Alcorn Co., P. O. Box, Corinth, MS. He had been a resident of Mississippi for 68 years. He enlisted in the State of Mississippi, County of Tishomingo. Enlisted in 1861 with the 26th MS, Commander A. E. REYNOLDS, Company B, Captain A. L. GOLLAHAR. Spent four years in this command. Wounded in the thigh on February 15, 1862 at Fort Donaldson. In prison on February 12, 1864. Signed W. C. BARKER on September 4, 1905 and was also signed by W. W. JOBE. Basically all the applications for a pension filled out by William Columbus BARKER said the same thing except that on his application dated June 26, 1916, he had more difficulty in signing his name for the first time. He stated he had three sons and three daughters. He was living with son I. P. BARKER. On the application of June 14, 1924, he signed with an "X". In her "Application for a Widow of Confederate Pensioner", Mrs. W. C. BARKER stated she married W. C. BARKER in Tishomingo Co., MS in 1862. William Columbus BARKER is buried in Wheeler Grove Cemetery located south of Corinth, MS and northeast of Kossuth, MS. In the 1850 census, he was listed as age 12. In 1920 census, he was living in Alcorn Co., MS near Umbrma BARKER, Otto BARKER and family, and I. Porter BARKER and family. His tombstone says "William C. BARKER" December 16, 1838---March 15, 1926.

IDMOS PORTER BARKER born January 1, 1877 in Alcorn Co., MS, and died March 15, 1951 in Alcorn Co., MS.

FANNIE M. BARKER born 1878 in Mississippi and married Will DUNN.

TERRY BARKER born 1878 in Alcorn Co., MS

MINNIE BARKER born February 1, 1881, and died March 6, 1959. Married James Frank BROWNER.

Eppie "Effie" F. JOBE was born December 16, 1873, and died on June 2, 1900. She married William Otto "Hoadie" BARKER on June 3, 1893 in Alcorn County, Mississippi. William OTTO "Hoadie" BARKER was the son of William BARKER, and Annie JOBE. He was born on June 2, 1872 in Alcorn County, Mississippi, and died on October 30, 1959 in Alcorn County, Mississippi. William Otto "Hoadie" BARKER is buried in Wheeler Grove Cemetery in Alcorn County, Mississippi.

Mark O. BARKER b. May 14, 1895, and d. February 19, 1911.

Mamie BARKER married [1]John W. JOBE the son of James JOBE, and Lela BUTLER. She then married [2] Edmund P. LOWE. John W. JOBE was buried in the Mouseleum in Corinth, MS, but was moved to Wheeler Grove Cemetery. Mamie BARKER was his first wife, and was the half sister to his second wife. John W. JOBE was the son of James JOBE and wife Lela BUTLER. John W. JOBE was a doctor. The children of Mamie BARKER and John JOBE are:

was born and died on June 20, 1920. He was buried in Shady Grove Cemetery in Alcorn County, Mississippi, and later moved to Henry Cemetery in Corinth, Mississippi.
