Tekken 3 has recently appeared in arcades across the U.S., and has provided us with some pleasant surprises with few possible disappointments (just my personal opinion... hmmm). The game shows distinctive differences, and improvements from TK2. Many things including characters, and moves are changed but some of the old ones still remain. We are building up this page in order to provide Tekken players, and the general public with the latest information, and understanding of this new game play. You are welcome to write to us your comments, complaints towards this page because this premature site will contain some errors (hopefully not many...).

Jin
Special ArtsJin's 10 hit combos.

As a son of Jun Kazama, and Kazuya Mishima from Tekken 2, he has the moves from both of his parents: those inherited moves are proven to be not as efficient though. Still his own unique moves make up some margins, yet not enough to make him the undisputedly strong character in the game. Jin can not be really used as either Kazuya or Jun, but to be used as a totally new character as far as the game strategy goes. Still, potentially a very powerful, and dangerous character, definately one of the top five choices.

Hwoarang
Special Arts Hwoarang's 10 hit combos.

A direct disciple of Baek Doo-San from Tekken 2. Like Jin Kazama, he is a totally new charcater, merely shares some moves with his master. He has tons of combo capabilities and kick-moves, even though it is not wrong to say that they aren't effective as Baek's. He mostly relies on high-priority high/mid attacks, unfortunately lacking a sudden low attack move. Just as his appearance, playing him against good safety players will require a lot of risk, and dare-devil like stunts, and attitude. An exciting character to play with if you know what you are doing.

LingSpecial Arts Art of Phoenix Hypnotist Moves Raindance Ling's 10 hit combos.

Very, very, quick character as you can see from her apearance, but that does not mean she is some kind of a whimpy fighter who can't do a lot of damage. She can cause crazy damage from her juggle which is a a huge part of her game. She does have a weakness where she has to be close to the opponent all the time in order to lead out the match. Still, if you are a consistent attacker without much patience, she is the one you want to use.

Paul
Special Arts Paul's 10 hit combos.

Undoubtedly, he has been the charcater that people generally fear to fight against. Why? Because this guy is too strong. Unlike some other characters whom require pain, patience, and time to master, Paul is just a simple power-house. He surely looks dull, and old nowadays, but Phoenix is still capable of trashing any charcater in a matter of seconds. I hope he comes back in Tekken4 (if there is going to be a TK4).

Yoshimitsu
Special Arts Yoshi's 10 hit combos.

He now looks like a total Cybernetic creature from outer space. He definately got improved. He has all the moves back from TK2, plus plenty more including a new unblockable. He usually gets over-estimated by many due to his fast unblockables. I don't doubt he is pretty good. But I don't think he fits in the top character section.

NinaSpecial Arts Backhand Series Betrayer Series Crab Hold Series Nina's 10 hit combos.

One of the few characters still remaining from Tekken 1, ow!! She is very, very, very annoying to fight against. I mean.. come-on!! It is like Tekken creators are obssessed with making this woman a perfect prototype of what's called a "god of fighting" which is supposed to be the other character in the game. Let's say, she has good regular moves, above average throws, and exceptional pokes, and side-step, and juggle combos + low-block-thruster + attack-reversal + ....... etc. It is good for Nina users, but not so good for those who have to fight against her.

Eddy Gordo

Throws Special Arts Handstand Moves Moves from Handstand Rewinder Moves 10 hit combos.

I used to like him because he is so funny looking and stuff. Now I detest this guy. He is encouraging those mashers to pound on the machine more- you know how bad it feels when you can hardly do any df or drangon-punch movements. Still this guy is pretty dangerous once used by those who actually know what they are doing. Yet, I don't consider him being one of the top characters due to his lousy recovery time from his combos, or moves.

LeiThrows Special Arts Lei's 10 hit combos.

He has been tuned down a lot. It is not like he sucks or anything; he is still pretty good with decptively high-damaging moves, meaning his moves do not seem to be doing any major damage, but when you look at the energy-bar, they actually do cause considerable damage. However, his major weapon, laying down (aka playing dead), isn't effective as it was back in TK2, which is a huge disadvantage to those classic Lei players. Other than that, he is fine, even funnier with all those new stances.

KingSpecial Arts Breaker Series Cannonball Series K's Special Series Piledriver Series Standing Heel Hold Series King Wonderful Series King FAQ 1 King FAQ 2 King FAQ 3 King FAQ 4 King's 10 hit combos. King Strategy Guide by dfdp5

A definately improved version from the last King. He is strong generally. His ally kicks are more useful. He can grab a crouching or a fallen opponent. He can perform multi-part from his side grab which can be very unpredictable. He has all the multi and ten hits from the old King. I haven't really used him against people so I don't know whether he can be effective against human opponents or not.

Law
Throws Special Arts Law's 10 hit combos.

A son of Marshal Law, yet he resembles Bruce Lee more than his own old man... he he. He is the advanced version of the old Law in many ways: he has more variety in the offense, and good side-steps and poke, combo-breakers...etc. I don't think he does as much damage as his father did, but his moves are more useful, and easy to use. One of the top five characters for sure. Many believe that he is even better than Nina. Maybe or maybe not, but the point is that he is one of few characters who are being considered as good as Nina or better. His only weakness is that he has to get into kinda close range in order to be really effective in offense.

Kuma
Special Arts

I just do not know why he is still in the GAME!! They better take this piece of XXXX, and replace it with some decent character that people will actually bother to learn....... KUMA- VERY VERY SLOW CHARACTER WITH TONS OF WEAKNESSES BUT WITHOUT MUCH FIRE(?) POWER TO COVER THE WEAKNESSES. LOOKS DUMB, ACTS DUMB, PLAYING DUMB, DUMB...DUMB....... Hey Panda! you are no different from this Kuma. You are just a cheap rip off of Kuma with white and black pants on!!

Mokujin
Mokujin THE ULTIMATE BLOCKHEAD by The Hoang Le

The word that best describes Mokujin is: unpredictable. When played against, a human player has to adjust to Mokujin's style of fighting. Since Mokujin changes his fighting style every round you are not sure of who he's gonna "impersonate" next. Play against him with caution.

JuliaSpecial Arts Julia's 10 hit combos.

Bryan
Special Arts
Bryan Fury FAQ/Strategy Guide: Both Part 1, and Part 2. Bryan Fury's 10 hit combos.

He is supposed to be like Bruce Irvin from TK2. NOT! Just like Jin or Howarang, he is a new addition to the game who just resembles one of the previous characters. Fury is pretty well-rounded without any noticeable weaknesses; very recommended character to use if you just started playing Tekken.

Ogre
Special Arts Ogre 2 Throws Ogre 2 Special Arts The Ogre Connection.

"God Of Fights" - no comment. He truly is the god of fighting in Tekken 3.

GunJack
Special Arts GunJack's 10 hit combos.

I would call him, bore-Jack. Nobody uses him ( at least in our arcade). He is better than Kuma though. Very, very slow- Kuma category character. Do not even bother to learn this one because this piece of metal does not have a thing called "potential." On the other hand, he is not supposed to have one. He is a robot!!

HeihachiSpecial Arts Heihachi's 10 hit combos.

Very old man now. I am surprised that he still can fight so well. In some ways, he is aging all right. He does not seem to be as damaging as he used to be. Still, that does not mean anything much, since he is so powerful now, and then. If you are new at playing Tekken, you aren't gonna have much fun using this grand pa pa. He is an experts' exclusive.
