After she got the mail, she ran back into the house and separated it. She took all of her mail and threw the rest onto the coffee table. The only mail she got was a letter from Steph.
Quickly she opened it. She started to read it out loud, "Dear Chris, how is everything? Everything is great here in the tour bus. We are all getting along great, in fact, Tay and I are becoming closer by the minute. I love him sooooo much!" Christine stopped. She fell to the couch and started crying. Marie looked over at her.
"What's wrong?" Marie asked.
Christine continued reading, "And I have great news for you," Christine sobbed, "Isaac has said that you seem nice enough and he'd date you!! Isn't that great?!? He thinks you're pretty cool, conservative, not like all those sluts that hardly wear anything and sleep with every guy they think is hot." Christine folded the letter, "I can't read any more." She threw the letter down.
"So," Marie said, "He doesn't have to know about Frank."
"I'll feel guilty," Christine exclaimed, "I regret that whole day! I wish I never would have met Frank, then I wouldn't be a slut! Steph and Ike wouldn't think I'm a slut!"
"But they don't," Marie argued, "They don't know about Frank."
"They'll find out," Christine snapped, "I'll end up telling them!"
"What else did she write?" Marie asked.
"I don't know," Christine replied.
Marie picked up the letter and started to read it from where Christine stopped, "I know that you must be sooooo excited. I am so happy for you! Anywayz, we'll be driving through your town, so we're going to stop at your house, probably on Saturday, actually, this letter will probably get to your house the day we get there. Well, I better get going. Write back soon. Bye! Love ya! From, Steph." Marie looked up to see Christine's shocked face.
"Oh my God," Christine yelled, "They're coming here! They're coming here, today! Oh my God!" Christine started to run around frantically cleaning and straitening up her house.
Suddenly, the door bell rang. Marie and Christine looked at each other, then Christine ran to the door. She opened it slowly. It was Steph, Tay, Zac, and Ike. "Come in," Christine said nervously as she held open the door and they all walked in.
Marie noticed that Steph and Tay were holding hands and made a jealous face, then she smiled, "Hello."
"You can all sit down in the living room, I'll go get some sodas. Are you thirsty?" Christine asked.
"Yeah," Steph said.
"What do you have?" Tay asked.
Christine answered, "Diet Coke, Diet Dr. Pepper, water, orange juice, and apple juice."
"I'll take a Diet Dr. Pepper," Tay said.
"Me too," Ike agreed.
"Me three," Steph said.
"Me four," Zac said. Marie led them to the living room. Steph sat between Zac and Tay on one couch and Ike and Marie sat on the other. Steph leaned her head on Tay's shoulder.
"So," Marie asked, "what's up?"
"Not much," Zac replied, "We've just been chillin' and performing." Marie smiled, trying to hide the fact that she was fed up with the closeness between Tay and Steph. She was so jealous.
Christine walked in carrying four Diet Dr. Peppers. She handed one to everybody. "Hey Steph," she asked, "Can you help me in the kitchen?"
"Sure," Steph replied. Steph got up and followed Christine into the kitchen.
"I have to talk to you," Christine said.
" ‘Bout what?" Steph asked curiously.
"Well, never mind, it's not important," Christine changed her mind, deciding that it wasn't necessary for Steph to know about Frank. Christine handed Steph a big bag of Cheez Doodles and a box of Twinkies. "Carry these, please."
"Sure." Steph took the bag and the box and walked into the living room, still confused and trying to figure out what Christine needed to tell her. She put the things down on the coffee table and took her soda from Tay. Zac reached forward for the Twinkie box, practically jumping off the couch.
"God," Marie exclaimed, "You're a hyper little boy, aren't you?" Zac smiled proudly. Tay put his soda on the coffee table and put his arm around Steph.
"Marie is such a brat," Tay whispered in Steph's ear as he tiredly rested his head on her shoulder. Steph, not paying attention to Tay's head, leaned forward to get the Cheez Doodles. Tay's head fell behind her back. Blushing, he sat back up. Steph leaned back, giggling. She opened the bag. Tay took one of them out and put it in Steph's mouth. She bit into it, lightly laughing.
Christine, finally, walked back into the room. She was carrying a bag of potato chips, a can of Diet Coke, and a bag of pretzel sticks. Christine turned off the TV and turned on her radio. "What do you guys want to listen to?" she asked.
"Do you have Aerosmith?" Steph asked. Christine shook her head yes, then took her "Nine Lives" CD out of her CD rack. She put it in the CD player and pressed play. She sat on the couch next to Ike.
"So, where are your parents?" Ike asked, trying to make conversation.
"Well," Christine explained, "my dad doesn't live here and my mom is on a business trip and won't be home until next Tuesday." Once again, Tay stretched his arm around Steph. Someone knocked on the door. Scared, Christine and Marie looked at each other. Christine jumped up and ran to answer it. It was Frank. "Now's not really a good time," she said quietly.
"Why not?" Frank asked. "My dad locked me out of the house, insisting I'm a drug dealer."
"Fine." Christine opened the door and led him into the living room. Marie gave Christine a shocked look and her jaw dropped.
"Now she's caught," Marie thought to herself. Frank looked around the room.
"You're those Hanson peoples, right?" he asked.
"Yeah," Tay said, with his arm still around Steph.
"And you're his girlfriend?" Frank asked, pointing to Steph and Tay.
"Yeah," Steph answered, thinking that Frank must be a total idiot.
"This is Frank," Christine introduced. She pointed to each person as she said their name, "That's Tay, Steph, Zac, and Ike. You know Marie."
"Barely," Frank said, "we were all so drunk, that I don't even remember what happened, wait, never mind, I remember." He looked Christine up and down and gave her a devilish smile.
Ike stood up, "Where's the soda?" he asked, "I finished mine." Ike walked in the direction that Christine pointed. Christine sat down by Marie and Frank sat next to her.
Frank took a pack of cigarettes out of his shirt pocket, "Any of you smoke?" Tay, Zac, and Steph shook their heads no. Ike walked back in. Steph slid off the couch and sat down in front of Tay. Ike took her spot on the couch. "You want one?" Frank asked Christine.
"No thanks," she said, "you know I don't smoke."
"You're kidding," Frank exclaimed, "you just had one yesterday morning before we . . . " Christine and Marie's eyes widened. Christine elbowed Frank in the side. Steph rested her head on the couch between Tay's open legs. He ran his fingers through her hair. Tay put his arm on the armrest of the couch and felt something wet touch his arm. He looked at his arm then at the couch. There was a small spot of blood on his arm and a big spot on the arm of the couch. He didn't want to embarrass Christine, so he didn't say anything, he just put his arm over his leg and rested it on Steph's hair. "Where's your little sex buddy, Marie?" Frank asked.
"Who?" Marie questioned.
"Your sex buddy, Alec," Frank said. The smell of alcohol in his breath filled the room. He looked over at Steph, "She lost her virginity two days ago, on Chris's bed," he laughed, "And then she had sex with Alec on that couch," he pointed to the couch Steph's head was on, "there was blood everywhere!" Steph quickly picked up her head. Tay, Ike, and Zac all slipped off the couch and sat on the floor. Tay unnoticeably wiped the blood off of his arm, disgusted by Marie's behavior. His stomach turned.
Frank turned toward Christine and gave her a kiss as he ran his hand over her crotch. "I hope Ike didn't see that," she thought to herself. He kept moving up, as usual, he made his way up his shirt.
Forgetting that Ike was sitting on the other couch, and enjoying herself, she slipped her hand down Frank's pants. Ike's eyes widened. Marie looked over and, seeing what was going on, slapped Christine in the back.
Christine backed away. She looked around and her face turned bright red. She started crying and then she ran out of the room. "What's wrong with her?" asked Frank.
"You should leave," Marie warned.
"Why?" Frank questioned.
"Leave," Marie screamed. Frank stood up.
"Tell Christine I said bye and I'll be over later tonight." He stormed out of the house.
