A SHORT HISTORY OF THE BAND:

Marilyn Manson is a five-piece band, which began it's journey from the Fort Lauderdale area in southern Florida. Current members include Marilyn Manson (vocals), Twiggey Ramirez (bass), Zim Zum (lead guitar), Madonna Wayne Gacy (keyboards), and Ginger Fish (drums). The band was originally named "Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids" (started in 1989 by Manson and ex-band member Daisy Berkowitz) but shortened their name to simply "Marilyn Manson" late in 1992. They opened for Nine Inch Nails in 1990 and Manson became good friends with Trent Reznor. While playing locally in Fort Lauderdale, the band earned tremendous recognition. Consequently, in 1992 they won top prize as "entertainer of the year" in Florida's Jammy awards. In 1993, the band signed with Trent Reznor to be on his new record label, Nothing/Interscope. Shortly following, they were nominated for South Florida's SLAMMIE awards. Of course they won, two years in a row in both 1993 and 1994. Their first release was the single "Get Your Gunn" on 6/9/94 shortly followed by the LP "Portrait of an American Family" on 7/12/94. Later, in 1996, they won awards for "best band", "best video", and "best record" at the SLAM awards. Also in 96' their video "Sweet Dreams" was nominated for "Best Hard Rock Video" at the MTV Video Music Awards. The band just finished up their "Dead to the World Tour" and even more recently finished playing in the "Ozzfest" tour. The band has received a lot of press lately, as usual, they have been guests on television shows such as: CNN, The Howard Stern Show, and Politically Incorrect. And most recently, they played "The Beautiful People" in their first ever "live" show on the MTV Music Video Awards on 9/4/97, and (of course) it rocked, including a 16 peice marching band, and even better, Mr. Manson himself displayed to the world his bare naked ass!
