Another late
night ,smoky, beer-fuelled round-the-pool-table-discussion in the
spirit of the finest intellectuals: who, of all of our favourite
recording artists, has actually achieved the most throughout their career?
The obligatory Oasis fan in the corner ( notice how he's always the loudest
in voicing his opinions) pipes up, pointing out to us all that his beloved
Mancunians' sales figures probably outstrip those of our favourite poxy
indie groups combined. He's right, of course, but are sales figures really
the only viable determining factor? I hope not. A brainstorm
strikes: surely prolificness must also be a factor. And surely few can
rival Tanya Donelly. After all, how many people can you name who have been
in three of the most respected indie ( in the word's most traditional
sense) groups of the last couple of decades, and who have moved
on to launch a promising solo career? Not many, I'll bet (and, indeed,
did - and won).
But in and her dalliances
with Throwing Muses, and respectively, such a person exists.
