Thunder Bay amethyst crystals: Ontario’s famous Thunder Bay amethyst was form 1.1 billion years ago during the Keenawan faulting of the Lake Superior basin. Other minerals found in the area are pyrite, galena, sphalerite, chalcopyrite, calcite, fluorite, and native silver. Crystals are all approximate 2" in diameter.
