The Supermax in Youngstown could soon be housing death row inmates. The state is considering moving some prisoners on death row from the Mansfield Correctional Institute to the state penitentiary on Coitsville-Hubbard Road. The move is said to be in the discussion stage and no formal decision has been made.

The Youngstown facility was opened in 1998. It houses 465 inmates described by state officials as the "worst of the worst" in Ohio prisons.
