Hello Ohio, my name is Christy Tigner. I am an activist for prison reform and inmates' rights, as well as an ordained and licensed minister. This site is to expose the truth that happens behind the walls of our prisons, and to help improve these conditions. Too many people are dying and being abused in the system and we can't keep turning a deaf ear to their cries. If you have anything to contribute, stories, stamps or greeting cards, please contact me at:

Visualizing Professionalism

*In our work, "Cops" refers to irresponsible and/or immoral police officers, just as "guard" refers to the same breed of "Correctional" Officers. We have the utmost respect for Police Officers and 'Correctional' Officers who do these difficult jobs in a professional manner, always remembering that they are dealing with human beings. But NO ONE should tolerate errant cops nor guards: This site's goal is to show you the difference.

In fact MTWT's  Gold Star Award is given throughout the site for employees of the department who show professionalism above the norm to those who nominate them.

IS THERE A MINIMUM STANDARD OF CARE FOR
PRISONERS IN AMERICA TODAY?

United Nations Standard Minimum Rules
for the Treatment of Prisoners

Adopted August 30, 1955, by the First United Nations Congress on the
Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders, U.N. Doc.
A/CONF/611, annex I, E.S.C. res. 663C, 24 U.N. ESCOR Supp. (No. 1) at
11, U.N. Doc. E/3048 (1957), amended E.S.C. res. 2076, 62 U.N. ESCOR
Supp. (No. 1) at 35, U.N. Doc. E/5988 (1977).

After you read these pages I think you will agree, the Ohio D.R.C. is not providing the minimum standard of care agreed to!

Now, I know that some of you think criminals deserve whatever they get, but if any authority should become  criminal by becoming negligent in their administration of the laws, would they too 'deserve whatever they get'?

The hypocrisy of such a defense of errant behavior by any person holding power over people really should open our eyes.

DISCLAIMER: Although we cannot guarantee the truth of each incident in these pages, we do guarantee that the big picture presented here is as accurate as we can possibly present it. Although most of the information contained herein does come from prisoners and prison workers and we know some people in both groups lie, their accounts are backed up by copies of grievances, medical records, family testimony, lawyer contacts, witness statements, samples of water, food and burned skin, and  eye witness testimony.  We work with a growing number of prison workers, who guide us and validate whatever parts of the picture they can.

These accounts belong to others. Therefore we can claim no ownership or credit, nor can we accept any responsibility for others' material. We, like Gary Waid, are simply the recorders who listen when no one else will - we are the amplifiers for the voiceless.
