Mishler, Ohio

**7/20/2003**

Yeah, you're probably reading the title to this page right about now and thinking "Oh man, I don't even wanna know".  Sorry, I'm gonna tell ya anyway!!!  Okey dokey, well, for starters, this past Sunday, July 20th, was the beginning of our little vacation.  Yep...it's been fun.  So, we had plans to leave for Toronto, to see the Hockey Hall of Fame, Gretzky's restaurant, etc.  All that good stuff.  Well, we decided not to leave until Monday, for lots of reasons...and had Sunday just sitting there all open and available for boredom.  I first heard about the wonderful little speck on the map called Mishler approx. 6 months ago...TOTALLY by accident.  I don't even recall how I found it.  But anyway...I DID, and its a speck just south-southeast of Akron.

We drove for...well, a while before finally finding Mishler.  Unfortunately, the place is so small that it doesn't have a "Welcome to Mishler" sign...unless someone already stole it.    No, it wasn't me!  There is one main street that goes through Mishler, and its appropriately named "Mishler Road".  Very clever!  Being that I wasn't allowed to steal a street sign (EVEN after I had proof that someone ELSE has already stolen one...the post with the missing sign!) I still couldn't convince them that I need the sign for my room.  Dern.  That's ok...I'll just have to go back someday!  So for now, I have pictures.

This first picture is one of the VERY few intersections in Mishler.  Personally I find more joy in the wonderful looking establishment in the background!!  No, not ALL of the buildings look that bad...there are actually a few houses that MIGHT EVEN be lived in!!    I have yet to pick a definite name for the duck, I will be taking suggestions by email though!  For now, I think he'll be referred to as Prince Alexander Anton Troschinsky VI.  Or Al for short.

Next we have one of the most interesting street signs I've ever run across.  It's SERIOUSLY a street sign, I'm not making this up!  Approx. 500 feet after you see this sign, you see the CATTLE.  LOL  It was hilarious.  Not like I've never seen a cow before, but it was great.  There is nothing but wide open space on either side of the road, and hence why the cows seem to like the area.  I suppose one too many cows had been hit by cars(?) so they put an little wire fence up.  Now, the fence is about 2 feet high...so we're going on the assumption that cows can't jump.  Ok then, I guess that would warrant a sign?  I dunno..whatever.

Next we have another peculiar little street sign!  This one I still have yet to figure out...if you know what on earth they're talking about, let me know.  The only thing I can picture, is something like a scene from the Beverly Hillbillies.  In any case..if you're ever in Mishler, look out for oil.

So, that was my trip to Mishler...it was fun while it lasted.  LOL  Yeah, THIS is what I do during the summer.  Got any BETTER ideas!?!?!
