Huskies receive Hockey East awards
Date of Release: March 16, 2001

BOSTON, MA - Hockey East announced its annual awards on Thursday March 15 at the awards banquet, and several Northeastern players heard their names called.

Junior captain Jim Fahey was named to the All-Hockey East second team, while senior Graig Mischler was All-Hockey East, honorable mention. Senior assistant captain Mike Jozefowicz received the Len Ceglarski Sportsmanship Award and junior Chris Lynch was the runner-up for Best Defensive Forward.

Fahey led NU defensemen in points for the second straight season with four goals, 23 assists and 27 points. He had seven multi-assist games on the season, and over the final 14 games, had at least two points seven times.

Mischler became the first Husky since Jordon Shields in 1994-95 and 95-96 to lead NU in points for two straight seasons. Mischler put together a 10-32-42 line. He led Hockey East in assists and had the most points by a Husky since Shields had 43 in 1995-96. Mischler finished the season playing his best hockey. He was Hockey East Player of the Month for February with at least one point in all eight games and a 4-15-19 line for the month. He had a point in the final 10 regular season games and in 11 of the last 12 overall. In 140 career games, Mischler had 34 goals, 74 assists for 108 points.

Jozefowicz was a solid defender and a key weapon on the power-play all season for NU. He spent only 14 minutes in the penalty box during the season. After a slow start, with only five points through the first 20 games, Jozefowicz played his best hockey over the final two months of his career. In that span, consisting of 15 games, Jozefowicz had three goals and 12 assists. In his final career game, Jozefowicz had a goal and an assist versus Maine.

Lynch, who is normally recognized for his offensive skills and his talents at winning faceoffs, is also a great weapon for the Huskies on the defensive end, both in even strength situations and on the penalty-kill. For the season, Lynch was third on NU in goals with 12 and had 18 points.
