One of their better scorers is leaving. One is coming back.

In other words, it's just another day in the ECHL.

The Reading Royals loaned Mike Souza to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, while centerman Graig Mischler has been returned from the Bears to the Royals.

Also, defenseman Adam Borzecki has been returned to Reading from the Manchester Monarchs, the Royals' AHL affiliate.

Souza appeared in 12 games for the Royals and was tied for the team lead with Jon Francisco with six goals. Souza also had three assists and was a plus-2. He scored the game-winning goal in Reading's 2-1 win over Trenton Saturday.

“Obviously the loss of Souza is a tough one,” Royals coach Derek Clancey said. “He scored some big goals for us, but I am happy for him. He's getting a huge opportunity in the AHL and hopefully he'll be a good fit for Hershey.”

Mischler was loaned to Hershey on Nov. 29 after tallying three goals and eight assists in 14 games with the Royals. He scored no points and was a plus-1 in four games with the Bears.

Mischler led the Royals in scoring last season with 13 goals and 44 assists for 57 points.

“Getting Mischler back makes the loss of Souza easier to deal with,” Clancey said. “He gives us depth and he is a great fit in the locker room.”

Borzecki appeared in six games with Manchester had no points and was a plus-3. Prior to his stint in Manchester, Borzecki had no points and was a plus-8 in 11 games with Reading.

His presence will be welcome on a defensive corps that has played very well despite skating just five players for the last couple of weeks.
