Mischler and Borzecki Activated Off IR…Markusen Placed on Injured List

Tuesday Dec 28, 2004
Reading, PA – The Reading Royals, affiliate of the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings and AHL’s Manchester Monarchs, have announced that centerman Graig Mischler and defenseman Adam Borzecki have been activated off the seven-day injured list. Mischler was hurt in the pre-game skate on December 17, prior to the Royals game versus Atlantic City. Borzecki was placed on IR on Monday December 20. In addition, defenseman Joe Markusen has been placed on the 7-day IR.

Mischler, 26, suffered a freak injury when he took a puck off the head during the Royals pre-game skate on December 17. He was placed on the injured list following the event. The Royals leading scorer from a year ago has played in 16 games for Reading this season and tallied three goals and 12 points with 31 penalty minutes and a plus-2 plus/minus rating. His four power play assists lead the team in that category. Mischler also was called up to Royals American Hockey League affiliate, Hershey, from November 29 through December 7. He appeared in four games with the Bears, but was held scoreless while posting a plus-1 plus/minus rating and four penalty minutes.

Borzecki, 26, rejoins the Royals after spending a week on the injured list. Borzecki has appeared in 16 games with Reading this year and posted one assist and 15 penalty minutes. Currently, he ranks third on the team with a plus-9 plus/minus rating. Borzecki has also dressed in six games with the Royals primary AHL affiliate, the Manchester Monarchs. He did not score but posted a plus-3 plus/minus rating and posted 10 penalty minutes.

Markusen, 24, has appeared in just three games with Reading this season. He did not register a point. The Michigan State University product was acquired from Long Beach on December 3.

The Reading Royals are entering their fourth season in Reading, Pennsylvania after relocating from Columbus, Ohio. The Royals enjoyed their first Kelly Cup playoff appearance last season, claiming the Northern Division Title and were one win away from qualifying for the Kelly Cup Finals.
