Game
recap: Reading ended its longest road trip of the season on a good note with
an ECHL win over Pensacola at the Pensacola Civic Center.
The Royals
finished the eight-game road trip at 6-1-1.
The Royals
took an early 1-0 lead when Judd Medak scored his third short-handed goal of the
season at 2:09.
The Ice
Pilots appeared to tie it a few minutes later when a wrister from the point by
Ryan Stokes beat goalie Barry Brust, but the goal was disallowed when it was
ruled that Pensacola’s Ryan Vince was in the crease.
Larry
Courville scored off a feed from Cail MacLean to give Reading a 2-0 lead at
11:53 of the first period.
The Royals
struck quickly in the second when Medak fed Preston Mizzi for a goal to make it
3-0 just 55 seconds in.
Medak
scored on the power play nine minutes later to put Reading up 4-0. MacLean
scored at 12:32 to give the Royals a 5-0 lead.
Pensacola
got on the board 2:20 later on a goal by Ryan O’Keefe. The Ice Pilots scored
twice in the third period to make it 5-3, but Mizzi put it away with a late
empty-net goal.
Medak and Graig Mischler each finished with three points.
Mischler was called for a spearing major and a game misconduct in the second
period.
Notable:
The Royals have had at least one player score two goals in six consecutive
