A Paint Shop Pro Tutorial for version 8

NOTE: you will need a vase or some container to place your flowers in. There is a tutorial for the vaseshown here.

If you are using version seven, here is a brush graciously made by Lady Alba for this tutorial. You will find it very useful for many other things too!

1. Open a new image size 500x500

2. Add new RASTER LAYER.

3. FLOOD Fill with white.

4.Add another RASTER LAYER.

5.We will need to make a brush of this leaf shape.

6. Right click on the leaf and save it as a picture or do a screen capture of it, and convert it to a raster layer.

7. Now use the magic wand to select it.

8.Click on the brush variance tool options, and set this way:

9. After you have all these settings in place, then go to the paint brush tool options and click on the little box next to the presets.

10. When it is open you will see three boxes on the right hand side. If you run your mouse over them it will tell you what each on is for. We need to choose the second box down......"create brush from selection". Make sure there is a check mark in the box "save variance".

-------Now we have our custom brush!--------

11. Go to the color palette and choose two colors that you like, One dark and one light or bright.

12. Now we need to go to our files and bring out the vase we made last week. Copy and paste the vase as a new layer on the image we are working on.

15.Change the foreground and background colors to a light and a dark green.

16.Go to the brush options and choose the FEATHERED bush pre set.

17. Now go to the brush variance tool options and change the color blend to oscillating fade.

Paint on a few fronds. starting from the bottom of the frond to the top.

That's it, and I'll let you embellish the backgrounds and whatever else you would like to add!
