7. Set the brush variance to

8. An important thing to remember is that the darker leaves will go to the back of our arrangement, medium color to the middle and light to the front.

9. Choose two different colors of your choice from the palette for the foreground and background, bearing in mind instruction 8.

10. Lets begin to paint some fern type leaves. Move your brush in an arch for the leaves , and move it back and forth ever so slightly to pick up both colors.

11. You can draw some guidelines as shown in the image below to help guide where you want the branchs/stems to go.

Pull your brush in the direction shown in the image to create the leaves.

12. After you have about 4 or 5 stems of the darker fern, add a new raster layer.

13. Now paint your medium leaves. Vary your colors frequently to make the painting more realistic. Again, do about 4 or 5 stems. Add another raster layer when you have finished the medium leaves.

14. Now paint your light leaves. When you have finished that, add a couple more stems using a light and a dark color.

Now create a beautiful background or setting for your fern!

Here's a tip...... We all have a few tubes of flowers we have collected that have no greenery on them. I know I do! Paint your tube on one layer and then add a new layer beneath that. Now pull out this new brush and add just a few leaves. don't forget to adjust the size the size of the brush as needed. It's amazing what a difference it makes.

    Above all, have fun painting!
