A potential Hall of Famer can remain on the ballot for 15 years providing that player obtains 5% of the vote each year.
Few players in history have remained on the ballot for at least 10 years without being inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Unfortunately 75% of voting sports writers are not convinced that these players have met Hall of Fame standards.
Since not many players have been inducted ten years of voting support is an important accomplishment.
