The first person I saw when I walked into the tradeshow was Josh Petty. He was talking with the Senate crew waiting for his buds to get back with his brew.


JB-So how‘s the tradeshow so far?

JP-Uh I don’t know, I’m sober and I just got here. It is only Thursday so it should get better.

JB- so any dope skating yet?

JP- No not in San Diego, but I was in downtown LA for a few days filming for the white rabbit video. My section is almost done. We are just finishing every thing else up.

JB- what is that video for?

JP- no its just uh, well Joe is editing it, Arlo wrote a script and is directing, and Shane Coburn producing.

JB-So is mostly in Cali?

JP- Yeah its Like me Brian Shima, Jon Elliot, Jaren Grob, and I think that’s it. Well maybe Aaron Fienberg.

JB- Any tours lately?

JP- Yeah I just got back from touring through Alabama, Arkansas, I don’t know a, lot of those mid-west places.

JB- I hear your headed to Portland soon.

JP- Yeah we are going down there in a few weeks to film for the white rabbit video. Its going to be a f***in sick ass video. Its got a story line and shit.

JB-So it’s a totally new style video then?

JP- Yeah its got a little bit of acting in it, I mean its more like a story, like a paradox, dreams VS. reality sort of thing. It’s like a movie more than a skate video.

JB- So you going to compete tomorrow in the IMYTA?


JP-I just might actually.

JB-Not sure yet?

JP-well it just depends if I can find some beer in the morning to get over my hangover. I like the place that its going to be at too. You going to be there?

JB- I don’t Know if I can make it or not, My flight leaves at 5 and its at 1 at Escondido. I might be able to stop by for a little bit. But Chris will be here so I think he is going down. Anything else going on?

JP- Well I just got the new Thrones and I’m testing those out. They are pretty F@#$in sick. Everything is connected by these two UFS bolts in the frame.

JB- So the UFS bolts hold everything in?

JP-Yeah

JB-Did you get to design it at all or just pick the colors?

JP-Well I’m sort of on the rebound design, I pick out the things that are sort of wrong with them and get back to USD. Dustin kind of came up with the concept, and now were all testing I, see what works and what doesn’t.

JB- So you like the UFS?

JP-Yeah, I mean they are a little hard to get used to at first, I been riding the old Fifty/50 frame like forever, but they are cool once you get used to them.

JB-What’s with the boot, it looks different?

JP-Its all more contoured and like these pieces all [pointing to the new 3 soul plate system for 2002 thrones] intertwine but they lock into each other, like you take out the UFS bolts and everything just like falls off, makes it easy to replace the parts.


After another minute of chilling, his friends came back and they left. Saturday he ended up winning IMYTA, the comp he wasn’t even sure if he would compete in. Guess he found that beer in the morning.
