Trapped

Locked inside a prison cell with no escape in sight, she cries tears of pain and loneliness.
A fragment of her heart dies every day that she remains there.
Won't someone find the key to release her from this hell?
Her body withers from lack of love.
Her eyes are swollen from the years of tears she has cried.
Head bowed in shame and defeat from being unable to free herself.
She once was very strong, but time and circumstances
have weakened her to the point of waving the white flag of surrender.
If she should utter the words, "I give up", all will be lost for her.
She will die a sad and lonely woman.
Will someone be able to rescue her in time?
Save her from herself?
The loathing she has for her own existence is very strong.
Even a tiny bit of concern from a kindred heart
would save her from the downward spiral.
The landing, if not stopped
would render her useless, lifeless.
A heart once warm and caring would become stone.
She herself would become empty inside.
No soul.
For the soul that loved, cared, thought, gave, laughed, and cried would no longer exist.
Only a shell of the woman once known would exist.
Trapped, frightened, so confused, so lost.
Save her.

Save her before it's too late.
