Welcome to the web home of PPG Vibrance Collection/Midwest Supermodified Driver of the May Motorsports #7 Charlie Schultz

SCHULTZ SNAGS SEASON OPENER

With chips left on the table from last season, Charlie and the May Motorsports crew showed their winning hand and went to the bank by picking up the season opener in the Midwest Supermodified Association feature at Sandusky Speedway.

Mother Nature had other plans for the weekend when high winds from a spring torando dipped across the track, doing severe damage to the fencing, lighting, and grandstands. Undaunted by the weather, Kevin Jaycox and his staff worked through the night Friday and into Saturday to make sure the show went on as scheduled.

Charlie was fast out of the box, setting 2nd quick time behind ACME Racing's Lou Cicconi. He took a leisurely ride in winning the fast heat. After a three hour rain delay, Jon Henes(#36) and Jack Smith (#09)led the field of 13 to the green flag. Charlie rolled off 9th for the feature in the Advance Auto Parts/Frank May Garage red #7. It was a short lived start as Brandon Fisher (#12) nearly spun in turns one and two. A few laps later Fisher got together with Rich Reid (#55), with Reid doing a lazy flip onto his side in turn two. Both rides were done for the night.

Back under green, Charlie showed the crowd why he got the nickname Chargin' as he hooked up on the high side and made his way to the front. Once out front, there was no looking back, lapping all but 4 cars and crossing the line over a half a lap ahead of runner up Timmy J (#8). May Motorsports teammate, Tim Ice finished in the 5th spot, behind Cicconi, and Trent Stephens (#19).
