Charitable Work:

Many Blue Knights work long and hard to raise money for various charities. Especially near to our hearts is helping children. Make-a-Wish Foundation, Toys for Tots, D.A.R.E., and Concerns of Police Survivors are some examples of our favorites. 

From September 1, 1991 to April 1, 2008 Blue Knights have donated to numerous charities; contributing time in the amount of $3,576,620 (178,831 man hours @ $20 per hour),  goods with an estimated value of  $592,935.49 and $5,865,257.07 in cash for a total of  $10,034,812.56

Blue Knights OH XXV is a 501 (c) (3) tax exempt public charity and contributions are deductible under section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code. We are also qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devises, transfers or gifts under section 2055, 2106 or 2522 of the code.

The following is a breakdown of Ohio XXV's charitable work since 2005.

   Ohio XXV made available four criminal justice scholarships at:

July 2005:  $500 scholarships were awarded to:

·        Rowan Blundell of North Canton. He is a 2003 graduate of Copley High School.

 ·        Michael Lamb Jr. of Canton. He is a 1996 graduate of Central Catholic High School.

 ·        Sheryl Ryboski of Canton. She graduated from Hoover High School in 2003
and she is a past recipient of our 2004 – 2005 scholarship for $500.

Our second annual Poker Run was on Sunday, August 28, 2005 and was to benefit Make-A-Wish Foundation.
With monies raised and the chapter making up the difference we gave $5,000 to the foundation
to enable the granting of a wish, which was for a 3 year old boy named Christian to go to Disney World.

On September 11, 2005 the Stark County Sheriff's Office hosted it's 5th Annual Hero's Golf  Outing
at Skyland Pines in Canton, OH. We sponsored four holes at this event by donating $200.00.
This year the funds raised went to the family of Deputy Sheriff  Brandy  Lyn  Winfield
of the Marion County Sheriff's Office who was slain on October 14, 2004.

To help our fellow brother and sister Blue Knights that have been
effected by the disastrous hurricane Katrina we have donated $1,000
to the Southern Regional Conference disaster relief fund on September 13, 2005.

$500.00 was donated to Deputy Tom Cook of the Stark County Sheriff's Office at a benefit dinner
held at St. Michaels on November 26, 2005.  Benefit was held to raise funds for him after
the untimely death of his wife at the age of 32 on October 29, 2005.

Sponsorship of the The Friends of the Childrens Network Holiday Party.
$2,500 was donated so that kids in foster care or permanent custody of the courts can
have a Christmas Party on Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at the First Christian Church in Canton.

The Children's Network was given $1,200.00 to start up a photo album project on August 22, 2006.

Our third annual Poker Run was on Sunday, August 26, 2006 and was to benefit Make-A-Wish Foundation.
With monies raised and the chapter making up the difference we gave $5,000 to the foundation
to enable the granting of a wish, which was for a 14 year old Marissa to go to Disney World.

On September 11, 2006 the Stark County Sheriff's Office hosted it's 6th Annual Hero's Golf  Outing
at Skyland Pines in Canton, OH. We co-sponsored this event by donating $2,500.00.

$100.00 was donated to the Special Olympics Booster Club fund raiser on September 19, 2006. 

Sponsorship of the The Friends of the Childrens Network Holiday Party.

have a Christmas Party on Wednesday, December 22, 2006 at the First Christian
Church in Canton.
Approximately 150 children were present and they all had a
chance to see Mr. & Mrs. Santa Claus along with Rudolph the Red Nosed
Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman.

We donated $250.00 to the St. Baldricks Foundation for finding a cure to childhood cancer.
They held an event on March 18, 2007 at the Winking Lizard Tavern.

On March 27, 2007 a donation of $2,500.00 was made to the Hero's Golf Outing
to be held on September 11, 2007. This will be the 7th year it has been held
at Skyland Pines in Canton, OH. The event is to honor the fallen
Cleveland Detective Jonathan "AJ" Schroeder, Badge #2191.

$200.00 was donated to the MRDD Special Olympics Booster Club
fund raiser to be held on April 19, 2007 at the Louisville Eagles. 

May 10, 2007 we gave $500.00 to the Domestic Violence Project.
The funds will provide shelter and allied services, including drug
and alcohol treatment, to victims of domestic violence and
their children, as well as, education and prevention training to community
members. A poker run is set for Sunday, August 19, 2007.

$1,000.00 for a benefit dinner and fundraiser for two nurses who
work at Mercy Stat Care in North Canton. One nurse needs a
liver and the other one a kidney. This benefit will be at the Chateau Michelle
on Thursday, June 28th. The one nurse is a reserve Deputy Sheriff
and she contracted the west nile virus and it has caused her liver to fail.

$250.00 for sponsorship of Jackie Keller & Michele Scott for the
911 Memorial Ride to be held on August 16 – 18th. They will be
visiting all of the 911 sites and the funds go to the 911 Foundation
scholarship program for first responders.

Saturday, August 25th a Poker Run was held at at VFW Post 3747
to benefit Tina Battista. She has Chronic Pancreatitus and on June 11
th
she had an operation to correct this. She has very little insurance coverage
and the cost for her to bear this burden is basically beyond her means.
We were able to raise $1,349.00 through the generous support of our community.

Alexa’s Benefit Run & Pig Roast on September 29th and it’s being held at Bud’s Corner,
5750 Columbus Road NE, Louisville, OH for the benefit of a girl that has Perthes disease.
This disease prevents blood from getting to the hip bone and is very painful.
It will also cause the bone to die. A donation of  $500.00 was given to the family.

American Red Cross "Ride for the Red" Poker Run and Picnic Buffet was held
on October 14, 2007.
Benefits the local chapters Armed Forces Emergency
Services and Emergency Preparedness Training. 

$1,000.00 was donated for the Full House Sponsorship.

Special Olympics Booster Club fund raiser was held on October 16th at the
Louisville Eagles. We purchased 8 tickets to the event for $200.00.

Tuesday, December 17, 2007 the Annual Children's Network Christmas Party was
held at the First Christian Church on North Market Avenue, Canton. There was
about 200 kids and they had a great time meeting Santa and his helpers.
Pizza and ice cream was served as well as a generous portion of good
will and cheer. The event costs were $3,111.60. 

We donated $250.00 to the St. Baldricks Foundation for finding a cure to childhood cancer.
They held an event on March 9, 2008 at the Winking Lizard Tavern.

COPSRUN: Ohio V is having a raffle to benefit the COPSRUN which is
held in Washington, DC during the Police Memorial Week. A donation of
$20.00 was made for two raffle tickets.

A donation of $500.00 was made to the family of Andrea (Corrigan) Mirzakhani who
was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor. She is currently undergoing radiation
and chemotherapy. Andrea is a t Manor Care for rehabilitation. Her husband
had a brain tumor 6 years ago and is presently being treated for leukemia.
A benefit dinner was held on Sunday, April 27th at the North Canton Knights
of Columbus. Donations to the family can be made at Huntington Bank, 1340 N. Main St.,
North Canton, OH 44720

July 24, 2008 a donation was made for $500.00 to the American Red Cross
"Ride for the Red" Poker Run to be held on September 14, 2008.

On August 11, 2008 a donation of $2,500.00 was made to the Hero's Golf Outing
to be held on September 11, 2008. This will be the 8th year it has been held
at Skyland Pines in Canton, OH. The event is to honor the fallen Mansfield Police Officer
Brian Evans who was killed on December 26, 2007.

Saturday, August 24, 2008 a Poker Run was held at at VFW Post 3747 to benefit Tina Battista.
She has Chronic Pancreatitus and has undergone two surgeries to correct this in 2007.
She has very little insurance coverage and the cost for her to bear this burden is basically
beyond her means. We were able to raise $1,243.00 through the generous support of our community.

We were asked to provide funds again to the Children's Network for photo albums for the kids
that are going through the system. On October 27, 2008 a check was presented to them for
$1,000 to continue the program. A tag will be attached to each bag acknowledging that it
is provided by the kindly generosity of the Blue Knights.

A motion was made on October 13th to donate $500.00 as an confidential gift to assist a
Reserve Deputy Sheriff who requires a liver transplant due to contracting the West Nile virus
a couple of years ago and has come upon difficult financial times. This person's spouse recently
became unemployed and since the recipient is a very proud person we didn't want to have
the gift refused so we gave it to the family's attorney.

The Stark MRDD Special Olympics Booster Club held a Draw Down on October 21, 2008
at the Louisville Eagles. A $400.00 donation was made to the organization for their very
worthwhile efforts they make in helping these very special Olympians.

Wednesday, December 17, 2008 the Annual Children's Network Christmas Party was
held at the First Christian Church on North Market Avenue, Canton. There was
about 150 kids and they had a great time meeting Santa and his helpers.
Pizza and ice cream was served as well as a generous portion of good
will and cheer. The event costs were $2,968.41. 

Officer John Clark: Officer Clark had to retire due to injuries he received
in the line of duty, he was a K-9 handler and the City of Canton
gave Officer Clark his dog. A kennel is being constructed
and funds were needed for the fence. We purchased the
fence from Hercules Fence for $520.00.

Special Olympics: Ray Hunter brought 25 tickets to the MRDD
Special Olympics draw down dinner for April 21, 2009
at the Louisville Eagles. A motion was made to donate $625.00 to this
very worthwhile cause on March 9th.

 9th Annual Hero’s Golf Scramble: It is a benefit for the family of
Twinsburg Officer Joshua Miktarian who was killed in the line of duty on July 13, 2008.
He was a part time officer for Uniontown PD. At the April 13th meeting a motion
by Dave Rush and seconded by Gary Mathews to donate $ 1,500.00 to the Hero's Golf Scramble.
The event takes place on September 11th and is held at the Skyland Pines Golf Course,
a total of $9,500 was presented to his wife.

Boy Scout Trailer: Bob Burns reported on May 11th that they have
raised $1,000.00 so far for their troop 250 trailer; the cost
of the trailer is $3,800.00.  Motion by Jim Myers
to donate $500.00, seconded by Bud Sampson.

2009 Poker Run: We had our Poker Run on June 13th
and the weather was just great. We were able to raise $973.00
for Bambi Bibey so that she will be able to help
with her medical bills. Wish to thank all those that helped
and were able to come out and ride the poker run.

Domestic Violence Project, Angels of Hope Poker Run.
A motion was made by Dave Rush and seconded by
Jim Schnabel to donate $200.00 on July 13th.

Special Olympics: Ray Hunter brought 24 tickets to the MRDD
Special Olympics draw down dinner for October 20, 2009
at the Louisville Eagles. A motion was made to donate $600.00 to this
very worthwhile cause on September 14th.

Chapter was presented with the Dawn Marie Hendershot Award from the Stark County
Prosecutors Office and The Stark County Victims' Rights Coalition on October 27, 2009
during the 34th Annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner. Cited was our work toward the
above activities as well as the Children's Network Christmas Party.

Children's Network Christmas Party was held on Monday,
December 7, 2009  at the First Christian Church on North Market Avenue, Canton.
There was about 70 kids and they had a great time meeting Santa and his helpers.
Pizza and ice cream was served as well as a generous portion of good will and cheer.

Special Olympics: Ray Hunter brought 10 tickets to the MRDD
Special Olympics draw down dinner for April 20, 2010
at the Louisville Eagles. A motion was made to donate $250.00 to this
very worthwhile cause on March 10, 2010.

TV Raffle: Raffled off a 52" HDTV to benefit Tina Battista
due to her ongoing medical costs associated to her  Chronic Pancreatitus and has undergone
several surgeries to correct this. She has very little insurance coverage and the
cost for her to bear this burden is basically beyond her means. We were able to
present a check to her for $1,130.74 on Sept. 9, 2010
through the generous support of our community. Her web site is:

10th Annual Hero’s Golf Scramble:
Donated $100.00.  All proceeds go to the Memorial Fund for Officer Jarod Dean
of the Boston Heights Police Department who was killed in the line of duty
on 01/19/2009 and the family of Corrections Officer William Hesson of the
Ohio Department of Youth Services who was killed in the line of duty on 04/29/2009.
The event takes place on September 11th and is held at the Skyland Pines Golf Course.

  The Old Fashioned Canton Christmas Show:
We donated $400.00 to the show on Oct. 15, 2010. It benefits the
Stark Hunger Task Force and the Canton Palace Theatre.
