As Far back as I can remember, I have always had a problem with my weight. I have tried every diet out there and even though I lost weight with some.
I usually gained it back plus. I had heard about the Gastric Bipass Surgery from several people that had the surgery and had great results, however it took me about two years of debating it before I decided
that I was out of options. At 28 years old my weight on my wedding day, which was my highest weight so far was 435lbs. At 28 I had a hard time walking, doing normal household chores and was severely limited. I decided that this was no way to live. On 6/10/03 I took the step and had the surgery. My recovery was two days in the hospital. My sugery took 4 hours due to my weight. I have ad some discomfort but not as much as I expected to have. This is not a story about the end of my journey, but the begining. It is now 6/23/03 and I decided to document my weight loss on this website. I will keep it updated, and you can share in my journey with me.
On 6/22/03 I started on puried foods. Scrambled eggs and cottage cheese was a nice change from strictly fluids. So far so good.I know that I have had some questions about my surgery from others thinking about having it. To be honest there was a little discomfort but not much pain at all. My wounds are healing pretty fast and are easy to care for. Eating is a lot of trial and error. Chicken and Turkey do not agree with my stomach but I have found a lot of other things that do. Soups are very easy to eat as well as mashed potatoes. When I eat something that my stomach does not like or if I eat or drink to fast, we will call it a reverse effect happens. It doesn't hurt the gears just reverse and I know not to try that food for at least a month or to slow down. It has been a much easier transition than I thought it would be. 8/12/03 Ok so it has been a little over two months since my surgery and I feel great. I have lost a total of 73lbs since my wedding and 60lbs since the surgery. Yeah Billie! 11/15/03 116lbs down and I am feeling pretty good, a little deflated in areas but it's all good. 12/15/03 just weighed myself again today. I really need to get some up to date pics on here. Well I am down to 304 yeah. 128lbs since the Wedding. 2/05/04 It has been a while since I have written. Everything is going great. My weight loss has begun to slow down so I started Curves Yesterday and I love it. There are normal women there, no super models. Everyone is very encouraging. I am hoping with increased exercise that I will begin to lose faster like I was in the begining. I will keep you posted.
