Welcome to Ashim's Home Page

Publications

Welcome to my Home Page. I am Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Pacific University School of Pharmacy located in Oregon, USA. My primary training is in Pharmacy (B.Pharm). Additionally, I have a PhD in the Life Sciences and have specialized in cardiovascular and immunological pharmacology. In my research, I investigate the molecular mechanisms of a pediatric cardiomyopathy called Barth Syndrome. I am also interested in the molecular mechanims of pancreatic adenocarcinoma and the discovery of translational or pharmacognostic modes of pharmacological intervention for both these diseases. I have garnered close to $100,000 in research grant funding and have published eleven primary research articles in the general fields of pharmacology, immunology, oncology and toxicology. Six papers are linked above under the rubrick "Publications". Additionally, I have published numerous peer-reviewed abstracts and am the author or co-author on textbook chapters in Medicinal Chemistry and in Nanotechnology for PharmD students.

In my previous experience, I worked for five years as a Fellow and subsequently staff scientist at The NYU School of Medicine in NYC. I also worked as Assistant Professor at the New York Methodist Hospital located in NYC and as adjunct Assistant Professor at The City University of New York, where I taught a variety of subjects ranging from Pharmacology to Immunology to a diverse student population. At the Pacific School of Pharmacy, I am responsible for teaching in the PharmD program and also have an active research program. This Web site will be linked with the Malhotra Lab Page in the new future. A recent interest is the use of active learning in the pharmacy classroom and the scholarship of teaching.

I am interested in book chapter/book publishing, lecturing, seminar activities. More info about me can be found by following the link below
