This Is Where The Party’s At

By:  Lara

“Cuz it’s my birthday…my b-b-b-b-birthday,” JC Chasez sang as he drove up his street.  He laughed at himself, realizing he was imitating Cartman from South Park.  He couldn’t help it.  It was his twenty-fourth birthday, and he just knew that when he opened his front door, all his bandmates and friends…and hopefully a bunch of pretty girls…would be waiting inside shouting “Surprise.”  He knew they were planning a party.  Everyone had been very adamant about the fact that they were all busy this particular day.  Lance was going home to see his mom, Justin and Joey were taking a trip out to one of the islands, and Chris was going to be in meetings all day with FuManSkeeto people.  No one had even mentioned his birthday.  It was so obvious.  And he had always said he hated surprise parties.  Knowing the four men the way he did, however, saying that was only fuel on the party fire.

JC whistled as he went up the front steps, twirling his key ring around his fingers.  He entered the security code and slowly opened the door, pasting a surprised grin on his face.  The grin faded when he walked in the door, but the surprise didn’t.  The foyer and living room were empty.  No party.  “What the hell?”  JC whispered, walking over to the answering machine.

“Hey, JC, it’s Justin,” he heard his friend’s voice say.  “Me and Joey are about to head out, but I wanted to call and wish you a happy birthday, Old Man.  Sorry we couldn’t be there, but you told us you didn’t like surprises or a big fanfare, so we thought you’d want a day of peace and quiet instead.  Later.”

“DAMMIT!”  JC yelled. “WHY am I such a good actor?”  He grabbed his keys and went out the door again.

Holly glared at the radio before changing the station.  “Are all DJs against me?”  She asked the empty car.  Every station she turned to was playing a love song, or some other song that reminded her of her ex.  Life wasn’t fair.  She was finally over him…had come to the conclusion the night before that she was way better than he…and then every DJ in the city had made a pact to make her miserable.  “Today is the first day of the rest of my life,” she chanted.  “I’m better than any man, and no man can make me be anyone but myself.”  She stopped at the four-way stop and carefully looked before pulling out.

“I can’t believe this.  Want to be alone my ass!  Where’s my party?  Where’s my friends?  Where are the pretty girls?”  JC bitched as he zoomed up the street.  He didn’t even slow down at the four-way stop, until he slammed into the small car turning right.

Holly was frozen in her seat once her car came to a stop.  The car that had hit her had pushed her a good five or six feet.  Her fingers would not release from the steering wheel.  “I’m alive,” she whispered.  “I’m alive and pretty much unhurt,” she said, mentally telling her hands to let go.

“Holy shit!”  She heard a man yell.  Footsteps approached the car.  “Oh, God…are you okay?”

“I think so,” Holly replied, slowly turning her head to look up at the man by the car.  Concerned blue eyes stared down at her.

“Oh, God, I am so sorry.  This is all my fault.  I didn’t stop at the stop sign.  Can you get out?  Is anything broken?”

“No…nothing’s broken…but I can’t move…shock…I think…” Holly whispered.

“Oh, dammit…” the man’s eyes were miserable with guilt.  “Okay. I’m going to move your hands, okay?  Just relax…try to relax.  What’s your name?”

“Holly.”

“I’m Josh, but everyone calls me JC,” the man said.  He carefully took a hold of her left hand and peeled her fingers from the steering wheel knuckle by knuckle.  As soon as her left hand was free, he massaged it for a moment, then did the same to the right hand.  He tried to open her door but it was jammed shut.  “Can you climb across to the passenger side?”

“No…I have too much shit on the seat,” Holly said with a weak embarrassed grin.

“Here.  Come out the window.  I’ll help you.”  JC put his arms under hers and helped her up and out.  Holly leaned against the car, then looked at the damage.

“Holy shit!”  She screamed, suddenly furious.  JC winced.  He had hoped she would be forgiving.  “Do you realize that I just got this car three months ago?  I don’t have money to fix it, and…”

“I’ve got it under control.  I’ll give you my insurance info and…”

Holly stared at her car.  “A PORSCHE?  You drive a PORSCHE?”  She glared at him.   “Suddenly I am finding all kinds of ailments…my neck…my knees…”

“Oh, don’t, please…” JC almost pleaded.  “You do NOT know the kind of day I’m having.”

“Tell me about it,” she growled back.  “Men were on the shitlist to begin with, and you just made it worse!”

“First of all…are you okay…I mean, seriously.  If you want, I can drive you to the hospital.”

“I don’t think I want you driving me anywhere,” she snapped, but she slowly moved everything.  “No, I think I’m fine.  Seriously.”

“Okay.  Let’s exchange information, and then we can use my cellphone to call a tow-truck.”

“Make that two,” she said, motioning to the black Porsche.

“My car!”  JC screamed.  In his concern for Holly he had totally forgotten about his car.  He moaned as he looked it over.  “Happy birthday to me…guess I’ll be buying myself a new car.”

“Today’s your birthday?”  Holly asked as JC reached into his car and picked up his cellphone.  He nodded and she laughed.  She couldn’t help it.  He glared at her.  “Happy birthday,” she said.

“Thanks,” he snapped, punching in some numbers.  He called the towing company, then dialed Chris’ number. “Fuck…Chris…pick up.”  He hung up and dialed Chris’ cellphone.  “Chris?  It’s JC.  Where are you?  Oh really?  Listen…I need a favor.  I kind of had an accident and my car is totaled.  I need you to come get me.  What do you MEAN, you’re busy?  Dammit, Chris, I am standing on the side of Lincoln Avenue with a totaled fucking PORSCHE!”  JC huffed furiously.  “Yes…it was my fault…Chris…stop laughing, dammit! Then can you at least get a hold of the rental place and have them drop a car off…” he looked at Holly.  “Two cars.  Anything they have available.  Thanks.”  He hit “end.”

“You didn’t need to get me a car,” she told him.

“It’s the least I can do.”  They leaned back against his car and waited for the tow-truck.

“So…can I have your info?”  Holly asked.  JC stared at her.  “Your insurance?”

“Oh…right.”  He walked around to the passenger side as she went to get a piece of paper and her own information.  They exchanged insurance information as well as phone numbers.

“This is the quickest I have ever given any man my telephone number, just so you know,” Holly said, trying to make light of the situation.

“I’m flattered,” JC said, smiling at her.  She smiled back.

“Where were you off to like a bat out of hell?”

He frowned once more.  “Well, four of my supposed very best friends bailed on me on my birthday.  I thought it was all a joke…a surprise party.  I had told them I hated surprises just so I would GET a surprise party…but they took me seriously.  Lance is on his way to Mississippi, Justin and Joey are on a short cruise, and Chris is busy with his company.  I guess I was a little pissed off.”

“Lance…Justin…Joey…Chris.”  Holly stared at him open mouthed.  “You’re  JC.  Oh my God…” Recognition flashed through her eyes and he groaned.  She smiled. “I could so collect on this…TV interviews…newspaper articles…I could be famous!”

“You wouldn’t…”

“Oh, in the mood I’m in…you’re damn lucky I haven’t called the networks already,” she said with a grin.  “Don’t worry.  I’ll behave…for now.”

“All the people in all the world and I had to hit a smartass,” JC said, rolling his eyes.

Within a matter of minutes two two-trucks arrived on the scene, and the cars were hoisted up and towed away.  Five minutes later two rental cars arrived, with a third driven to carry the drivers back.  Holly stared.  “That’s a Camaro.”

“And?”  JC said, dropping his stuff into his own car.

“A new Camaro.  I can’t drive a Camaro.”

“Why not?  Don’t you like Camaros?  Wanna switch?”  JC motioned to his own convertible Mustang.

“Um…no…Camaro is fine,” Holly answered quickly.  JC looked at her.

“I’m sorry I hit you,” he said softly.

“It’s okay.  At least no one was hurt.”

“Were you going anywhere?”  He asked.  She shook her head.

“Just back from running errands.”

“Would you like to go to dinner?  Someplace simple and quiet…Italian, maybe?”

Holly opened her mouth and closed it.  JC Chasez…asking her to dinner.  Well…what could it hurt?  He owed her, didn’t he?  “I’d like that.  I’ll follow you.”

“Sweet!”  JC slid across the front of the Mustang and hopped behind the wheel.

“Drive slowly!” Holly yelled at him, and he made a face at her.

The restaurant that JC chose was out of the way but still quite popular, by the looks of the full parking lot.  They were quickly seated.  “Wine?”  JC asked Holly.  She shook her head.  She knew she’d need all her wits with this one.  He wasn’t even trying anything and she was already unable to keep from staring into his incredible blue eyes.

“Just water.”

They ordered and then sat looking at each other.  “Can I ask an incredibly nosy question?”  JC asked finally.

“Shoot.”

“What did he do to make you hate us all so much?”

Holly’s temper flared, then realized it was an innocent enough question.  “He promised me the moon, but didn’t deliver.  Even that wasn’t the problem.  The problem was, he promised me the moon, strung me along a path of stars promising it was how we would get there…then he dropped me off the edge and gave the moon to someone else.”

JC looked at her sympathetically.  “I’m sorry.”

“It’s okay. It’s not your fault.”  She smiled at him.  “It’s taken me about two months to be able to say that.  It’s not your fault.  It’s not my fault.  It’s all him.”

“Good for you,” JC said encouragingly.

“What about you?  I figured you would have had a girlfriend to spend your birthday with.”

JC frowned.  “No.  I ended a long-term relationship about six months ago.  Not looking for that kind of thing right now.”

“Not Ms. Right but Ms. Right Now?” Holly teased.

“Yes…I mean no…I mean…” JC stammered as the salads were placed before them.

“It’s okay.  Recreational sex is fun every once in a while, if you’re careful,” she said, and he laughed.

“Recreational sex.  I like that.”

Dinner seemed to fly by, though they sat and talked for almost three hours.  Holly was amazed at how easy it was to talk to one of the most popular men in current music, and JC enjoyed the fact that Holly treated him like just another guy.  At around nine o’clock JC looked around the room.  “I think they want us to leave,” he said.  Holly was surprised.  She hadn’t even noticed the time.

“I think you’re right.”  They stood and he paid the bill.  “Thank you for a wonderful evening,” Holly said as they walked to their rental cars.  They stood uncomfortably, neither wanting to go home but not knowing what to suggest next.

“You know…I think maybe you should find out where I live,” JC said suddenly.  “I mean, I could skip out on paying you what I owe you.”

Holly couldn’t help but grin at the lame attempt to get her back to his house.  “I think you are exactly right,” she told him.  “You don’t look very trustworthy.”

“I live out in the hills.  Follow me.”  He hopped into his car, a shiteating grin on his face.

“This is amazing,” Holly gasped as she got out of her car in his driveway.  “This house is gorgeous!”

“Yes, I guess it is.”  JC looked at his home, seeing it through her eyes.  “I’m proud of it.  Not much decorating on the inside, but at least the outside looks good.”  He unlocked the door and moved aside for her to come in.

“Looks great to me,” Holly said, not taking her eyes from JC’s face.

“You haven’t seen anything yet,” JC murmured, taking her face in his hands.  His soft lips met hers gently at first, then more insistently.  His arms wrapped around her, and she pressed herself against him, moaning as his tongue battled hers.  “Upstairs?”  He mumbled.

“Too far,” she replied, and he led her into the living room.  He dragged a blanket from the back of the sofa and threw it down on the floor.  Her hands were at the buttons on his shirt, quickly unbuttoning them and pushing the shirt from his shoulders.  JC tugged at her shirt, pulling it over her head.  He made short work of her bra, and sighed as her breasts pressed against his chest.

As JC gently laid her on the floor, Holly’s common sense was screaming at her to stop, but her lonely body ignored it.  His mouth trailed down her neck, stopping to suck on her shoulders before moving down to lavish kisses on her breasts. Her hips moved against his, and he drew in a ragged breath as her hands toyed in his hair.  “Wait!”  JC jumped up and took off up the steps, leaving Holly to wonder what the hell was going on.  He quickly thumped back down the steps, holding a small box in his hands.  “I didn’t want it to go any further without these,” he panted, waving the box of condoms in the air.  She smiled, touched that he had even thought about it.  His hands moved from her stomach back up to her breasts as he sucked on her bottom lip.

“Oh…JC…it’s been so long,” she sighed in his ear.  He tugged at the button on her jeans as she slid her hands down inside his baggy pants.  She moaned against him as she realized there was nothing under his pants except him.  He pulled her to stand and slowly shoved her jeans and underwear to the floor.  He closed his eyes and inhaled the scent of her perfume as she pushed his pants to the floor.  They kissed savagely, hands wandering everywhere.  With shaking hands she helped him place the condom on his hardness.  He pulled her back so he could sit on the sofa and she tumbled onto his lap.  Holly sank onto JC’s hard cock with a sigh, moaning as he placed his hands on the small of her back to bring her breasts to his mouth once more.  She rode him at a torturing slow pace until he couldn’t take it.  He bit her neck with a growl, causing her to giggle.  He picked her up and gently laid her on the floor once more.  He covered her body with hers, kissing her sweetly before thrusting into her.

“Oh…damn…Holly…” he muttered, burying his face in her neck.  “I’m…so close…”

“Josh…JOSH!”  Holly yelled, grabbing his shoulders as she came.  He continued to thrust into her, making her orgasm seem to last an eternity.  He finally came deep inside her, groaning her name.

He moved to lie beside her, panting as he enveloped her in his arms.  She kissed his face, his chin, his neck.  JC finally caught his breath.  “What kind of car do you like?”

“You’re not buying me a car, JC,” she told him.

“Of course not.”  JC looked insulted.  “What did you do to deserve a car?  I need to buy ME a car.”  He smiled to soften his words.

“What does it matter what kind of car I like?”  Holly asked, wondering what was going on.

“Well, I was hoping that you’d be in it a lot, so I wanted to get something you liked.”  JC suddenly felt shy.

“Oh,” Holly said, unable to keep from smiling.  “I trust your judgment.”

“And about this recreational sex thing.”  JC traced little circles on her back.  “I don’t like it after all.  From now on, our sex means something.”

“Right,” Holly agreed, laughing.  He laughed as well.

“Guess this birthday turned out pretty well after all,” he said, smiling at her.  “You’re the best present I ever could have wished for.”

“Thank you,” Holly whispered.

A banging on the door made them both jump.  “JC?  OPEN THE DOOR! WE KNOW YOU’RE IN THERE!”  He heard Chris yell.

“Did you really think we’d forget your birthday?”  Justin shouted.

“Oh, SHIT!”  JC said, scrambling for his clothes.  “Justin knows the password. Get dressed quick.

They laughed so hard they were hardly covered before the four other members of NSYNC came tumbling in the door.  “Why the hell didn’t you answer…oh…hello,” Joey said, looking Holly over.

“Shut up, Joe,” JC snapped.

“We are here to take you out.  Bring your friend,” Lance said, smiling at her.

“So, what happened with your car?  Chris mentioned an accident,” Justin said, throwing an arm around JC’s shoulders.

“I fell,” JC said, only having eyes for Holly.  “I fell in love.”
