Play and Scoring Rules |
Rules of Play |
PGA rules apply with the following
exceptions and clarifications: |
1.
A limited adjustment is allowed to balls as a result of shots that |
land in the fairway.
A player may |
move or roll his ball out of a bare
spot or divot without loss of stroke.
This exception to PGA rules |
applies only to the fairway of the
hole which is in play at the time. |
This adjustment is limited to 8
inches, |
and must never be made toward the pin. |
2.
The league's "tree rule" is no longer applicable and a
stroke will be accepted |
anytime a player moves his ball away
from hazards. Golfers must be |
cognizant of risky shots that may
place fellow players in danger.
Please |
ensure proper precautions are taken to
warn other golfers of your foolish |
intentions. |
3.
Out-of-bounds shots are to be played by the lateral hazard rules. The |
player must drop the ball at the |
point where the ball crossed the
out-of-bound markers and accept a penalty |
stroke. |
4.
Players are limited to three minutes to find a lost ball. If the ball |
cannot be located in this time |
period, a penalty stroke must be
accepted. |
5.
No "Mulligan's" are allowed. |
6.
Players are allowed a maximum of 10 strokes per hole. Upon reaching |
the maximum, a Player |
must pick up his ball and record a
score of ten for that hole. |
7.
Players who begin their round are expected to finish it. Those golfers |
who fail to complete their round are
disqualified for that round and will be assigned |
the least number of points to equate
to a last place finish in their flight. |
Further, their handicap will not be
affected by this lack of completion. |
8.
The golf course's management will make the call for continued play in
the |
event of inclement weather. Scores will count unless the management
closes |
the course. |
Scoring |
1.
Points will be distributed based upon net score. The Player scoring |
the lowest net score for the flight |
will receive one point per each of the
Players in the flight that he |
defeated regardless of whether the |
entire flight participated. In the event of a tie, the Players would |
receive the average point total of the
two positions they tied for. |
For example, if a flight contains 14
players, the Player netting the |
lowest score for that week would |
receive 13 points. The next Player would receive 12,
etc. If only 5 |
Players golf in the flight, the winner |
would receive 13 and the 5th place
golfer would get 9 points. In the |
event of a tie for first, the |
2 Players would each receive 12.5
points. |
2.
Each week the Player's average weekly score will be re-calculated by |
dividing the total season's |
points accrued by the number of weeks
that the Player has competed. |
Therefore, a Player's |
score would not change by missing a
week of competition. |
3.
Golfers must play seven regular season rounds in order to qualify to |
win their flight. |
4.
Players must play 2 of the final 4 competitions in order to qualify to
win their flight. |
5.
The top four qualifying golfers in each flight will
"play-off" for the |
right to represent their |
flight for the league's Grand
Championship. |
Handicapping |
1.
Handicaps are based on 80% of the difference between a Player's score |
and par (36) for the |
nine holes played. |
2.
Handicaps will be calculated on the most recent 10 rounds golfed. |
