John 3:3 “Truly, Truly, I say unto you,
except a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of God”.
Question: What is the new birth?

In Acts 2: 2-6 it says,
“And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven (split) tongues like as of fire, and it sat ( rested) upon them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues (Languages) as the Spirit gave them utterance. And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Now when it was noised abroad (told of) , the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them ( the 120 gathered) speak in his own language”.
This was the beginning of what Jesus promised in Luke 24:49 “Behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry (wait) you in the city of Jerusalem until you be endued (filled) with power from on high”. This was the first time this supernatural in filling of the Holy Spirit was given to dwell in each and every believer. Prior to this, only the prophets of God were given a taste of this privilege.

Everyone of the people gathered of all those different languages heard these Galileans speak in their own native language. They were shocked, all knew that these 120 people were Galileans. Everyone heard these people say, “The wonderful works of God”. These people were full of joy and carrying on to the point where people thought they were drunk. (Acts 2:15) God chose this way to get the attention of that city. This gave opportunity to have the Gospel of Jesus Christ preached to that city and three thousand were saved in that day. (Acts 2:41)

The Holy Spirit empowers the believer to do the works Jesus did on earth. In John 14:12 Jesus says, “Truly, Truly, I say unto you, he that believes on me, the works that I do shall he do also”. The word “Works” literally means to “Overthrow” as in warfare. In the first letter of John 3:8 it says, The Son of God was manifested to destroy the works of the devil.” Jesus says, “The works that I do shall you do also”.
What works did Jesus do?

He healed the sick! He cast out devils! He performed miracles such as giving sight to the blind, healing the deaf, the cripples walked and even the dead were raised. Overthrowing the works of the devil. Jesus overthrew the false teaching of the religious group of his day. All this was a demonstration of the power and love of God toward us. These are the works the church is supposed to do. Bring deliverance to the captives. Overthrow the works of the devil.

In Acts 2:43 we read, “And fear came upon every soul: and many signs and wonders were done by the apostles”. In Mark 16:20 we read, “And they went forth, and preached everywhere the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following”. Also in Mark 16:17, Jesus says, “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues, they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover”. This is God’s will for the Church and God is going to hold the Church accountable.

Being born of the Holy Spirit allows you to partake of the divine nature of Jesus, to eat of the hidden manna (Revelation 2:17) In John 4:34 Jesus says, “My meat is to do the will of him who sent me”. The eating of the hidden manna will give you “ Joy unspeakable and full of glory”. (1st Peter 1:8)

The Holy Spirit is the Father and the Son manifested in us. In John 17:23 Jesus says, “I in them and thou in me, that they may (will) be made perfect in one”. If you want rivers of living water flowing in your innermost being, If you desire the refreshing soothing touch of the Masters hand, Jesus says, “Abide in me and I in you”. Just like a branch cannot bear fruit unless it remains in the trunk of the tree, neither can you unless you stay connected to Jesus. Jesus says, “If you abide in me and my words abide in you; you shall ask what you will and it shall be done for you.” (John 15:7) Jesus wants you to abound in the “Divine Nature” to bring joy and peace in your life and glory to God the Father and God the Son.

You can know and walk in the mercy of Jesus. The mercy he showed you. The love you had when he first called you. You can be the light that shines in darkness. A witness that Jesus is risen from the dead. The joy and peace he freely gives, like a moth to the flame, will attract those around you. Jesus said, “Follow me and I will make you fishers of men”. It is God’s “Hook”. When people see that even in adversity your peace still remains, they are going to be confounded. They won’t understand it, but they will want it. They will demand, “How can I get it?” The Holy Spirit draws them. In John 6:44 Jesus says, “No man can come unto me, except the Father draw them”. Do you see? It’s not by power, nor by might, but by my Spirit says the Lord of Hosts. (Zechariah 4:6) Then you can tell them about Jesus.

If you desire to be baptized with the Holy Spirit, you need to ask Jesus. In John 1:33 it says, “Upon whom you shall see the Spirit descending and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizes with the Holy Ghost”.

The anointing which you have received of Jesus is here to teach you all truth, and will always lead you to Jesus. The Spirit of God will remain in you forever, a holy communion between you and Jesus. This is the only true communion between God and man.

In John 4:23 Jesus says, “But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the father in spirit and truth: for the Father seeks such to worship him”. Finally being of one mind and one heart, submit your will to Jesus and let the Holy Spirit cause you to operate in the love of God. You will begin to change supernaturally from the inside out.

(Know this always: when you receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior, He is your righteousness; in his eye’s you are perfect) You will want to do good things for people. You will want to share this great newfound love with others. It’s almost like an eruption of joy that can’t be contained. This joy and peace makes it difficult to be contrary to God’s will.

Ultimately the Spirit of God causes you to walk in his love and mercy. The Holy Spirit brings the personal one on one relationship with God the Father and Jesus Christ, like Adam had before the fall of mankind. The soothing comfort of the love of Jesus engulfs you and overcomes you. You bring forth “Good Fruit” a huge harvest. As we walk in God’s love and do the things that are pleasing in his sight, we can receive of him whatever we ask.

In Ezekiel 11:19 “And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new Spirit within you”.

“And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of knowledge and of fear (respect) of the Lord; And he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears”. (Isaiah 11:2-3) The transformation causes you to “Put on Christ”. It changes the way you look at and conduct yourself among people. You begin to view people through the eyes of Christ Jesus. Making decisions motivated by the Spirit of God within you. Looking past the faults of your brothers and sisters. God doesn’t look at yours.

There are many “Gifts” and manifestations of the Holy Spirit. There are the gifts of wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, working of miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits (Knowing if it’s God or not), many kinds of tongues (language of Angels), interpretation of tongues. All these are manifestations of the love of Jesus for the edification of the “Body of Christ”. Don’t shy away from it simply because you don’t understand the workings of the Holy Spirit. Many times the workings of the Holy Spirit are contrary to the way we think. God is always doing something new. Desire all the gifts. Jesus will guide you in all the fullness of his ways. All the gifts of the Spirit dwell in each and every believer since these manifestations are different functions of the Holy Spirit which dwells in all who believe in Jesus and have accepted him as Lord and Savior.

If you want all that God wants to give you, first invite Jesus into your life. Ask him to forgive you for your sins and to be your Lord and Savior. Thank him for the gift of Eternal life and ask him to baptize you with his Holy Spirit. Sing Praises to him knowing that God inhabits the praises of his people. (Psalms 22:3) (In this passage it refers to inhabiting the praises of Israel which is synonymous with “His People” You are his people when you receive Jesus as Lord.

King David wrote most of the Psalms. The Psalms are primarily a book of Songs of praise to God. I find it interesting that most of the key prophecies concerning the details of the life of Jesus including his death and resurrection the price that would be paid to betray him and even the agony he endured on the cross. This is all very interesting and just a small portion of the vast details exposed in the Psalms. Considering that King David was some thousand or so years before Christ, it seems at least to this preacher that Praise is much more than a “Feel Good” sensation. So Sing praises to Jesus whether in your head or on your bed and God will inhabit them and miracles will take place.

The working of the Holy Spirit is like a plate full of cookies;
Help yourself  honey!

Reveal yourself my God to your people this day, In the Name of Jesus I ask.
Amen.
