Magic indeed. Well, maybe not magic, but definitely a shift in the wind. Things go up, things go down, and in the midst of it all, there seems to be some kind of way that we muddle through, get kicked down, pick ourselves up, and keep on doing the things we need to do. And along the way, the ups keep coming enough to make the downs not so bad. And even at their worst, there's always someone there, at the other end of the phone, in a coffee shop, on the screen, someone who can say 'hey, it's not so bad' or 'suck it up, Mary, quitcher bitchin' *L* or even just an occasional 'I love you.' And that's enough somehow. Enough to make the battles worthwhile and the war look within winning reach...In the meantime, I have to mention the family football pride thingy that was going on at City hall tonight, and even though I stumbled across it by accident, and even though it was cold cold cold out there, I paused for a moment, and listened to a man sing a folk song, and watched some 'mascots' dance, and everywhere there were smiles. And I thought, you know, in this case, it's football that's the great equalizer. Cos no one there gave a shit if the person next to them was gay straight, single, married, rich, poor, black, white, first nations, big, small, young, was odd and liberating and almost brought a tear to my eye.
We deserve the Grey Cup, just for that *L*

Queen--A Kind of Magic
It's a kind of magic,
It's a kind of magic,
A kind of magic,
One dream, one soul, one prize,
One goal, one golden glance of what should be,
It's a kind of magic,
One shaft of light that shows the way,
No mortal man can win this day,
It's a mind of magic,
The bell that rings inside your mind,
It's a challenging the doors of time,
It's a kind of magic,
The waiting seems eternity,
The day will dawn of sanity,
It's a kind of magic,
There can be only one,
This rage that lasts a thousand years
Will soon be gone,
This flame that burns inside of me,
