Jones Photos

We have very few pictures of my father, John Patric Jones, during his early years. Included here are some of the few we have in our possession. There were never any dates on the pictures, but the first set was probably taken sometime in the late 1930s, to judge from John Patric's appearance. The dog in the pictures was Dad's pet, Spot. The man with Spot in the bottom picture is John's "Uncle Ernie," brother of his grandmother Margaret (Watkins) Hibbard. Dad said his favorite memory of Uncle Ernie was the fact that he drove all the way from Swanton to Toledo in second gear!

Above: Badly damaged picture of John Patric, or "Bud," as he was called by his family. Information on back of picture indicates that the picture was taken in Spetmeber of 1941, when the family was living at 714 and 1/2 Locust St, in Toledo.

Below: Judging from John's appearance, these two pictures were probably taken in the early 1940's, perhaps around the time he enlisted in the Navy and was eventually discharged for being underaged.

Childhood Childhood

My father, John Patric Jones, with me and my sister. The first picture was taken in our backyard around 1958. The second picture was taken a few years later on one of the many family outtings we used to go on.

Fishing Hunting

Throughout his life, my father enjoyed the out-of-doors. He loved fishing, and later took up hunting. These two pictures show him doing those things he loved most.

Conductor

And though Dad would probably smack me if he were around to see me do this, I had to include at least one picture of him at work on the railroad. Sorry, Dad.
