The slower red model This is the original. We raced this SV to 4th place overall in the lightweight class for Nelson Ledges Endurance Series in 2000.
We're goin' racing!! With 2 bikes this year our plans are to race the endurance series and as many sprints and WERA events as we can afford. We're goin' racing!!
Ready to Race This is Rob coming out of turn 13 at Nelson Ledges during practice before our first race in 2000. Ya gotta love that custom fairing! Wanna read about racing the SV? Click here for the Race Reports
Before 2000 SV650 purchased used with 3800 miles on it. Previous owner had dropped it once or twice, so we got a really good deal on it. Red was purchased new, but looked quite similar.
After About a billion dollars later (or so it seemed), this is how "Old Blue" ended up. Vortex clip-ons, Daytona damper, Penske Shock, Race-Tech front end, Bridgestone slicks, solid mount pegs with homemade rearset adapters, snorkelectomy, 145 mains, 17.5 pilots, Fairing from a TZ250 (screen from YZF600), Steel braided lines, Sharkskinz solo tail and HMF hi mount pipe (sounds really cool). Dyno run showed 68hp.
Blue is faster Some people on the SV list were asking about mounting the Penske shock. The reservoir hose was pretty short, so I mounted it to the subframe right above the footpeg. This photo also shows the rearset bracket I made out of steel. click here for a pattern They hold up pretty good in a crash, and you can still use the stock rearsets (or from a GSXR or TL as well)
