Looking For An Easy Way Out
down by the river just a fishing for trout
see a family fighting for no reason
i shiver a little as the season is a changing
the father looks like hes about to go over the edge
as they get to the ledge and look down
the boy is complaining that he wants to go home
says he wants to play with his frieds
so the family trip comes to an end
they turn around and go to their car
drive away really far
i see the boy staring out the back window
looking at the mississippi river and although
he doesnt know it know he wishes he would have stayed
i try to figure out what made him this way
as i say to myself
looking for an easy way out
thats what all the people now adays are about
looking for an easy way out
they always seem to be busy
aint got time to play frisbee
with there kid
they're in their mid-thirties
and life isn't what they thought it would be
since all they think about is me
looking for an easy way out
when things dont go as planned
they just scream and shout
looking for an easy way out
they're always in a hurry
dont have time to read there son a story
the poor child is barely getting by at school
he was never taught to study and learn
all he wants to do is swim in the pool
already looking for an easy way out
when he dont get his way all he does is pout
looking for an easy way out
his parents they buy him a brand new toy
wonder what it will take when hes no longer a boy
looking for an easy way out
thats what i'm talking about
looking for an easy way out
15 years later i see a little boy
who reminds me off someone from way back when
yep another generation and the cycle continues
looking for an easy way out
thats what i'm talking about
looking for an easy way out
looking for an easy way out
thats what i'm talking about
looking for an easy way out
looking for an easy way out
that's what i'm talking about
looking for an easy way out
