Once upon a time in

America.

The year was 1999. The World Trade Center stood tall over the

Manhattan skyline. They had two more years to shine.

That August in 1999 I had believed that I would return

to New York and once again be greeted by the

twin towers of the World Trade Center. Like so many

others, I had naively assumed that they would be there

for a hundred years. Not so.
